Would not need an optimal merge pattern based approach here What is the cost of merging any two data sets is the same in this case. A typical optical merge pattern for merging various files is a greedy approach when the cost of merging depends on the number of elements in a file.

No, you do not. You would need a solid understanding of the underlying mathematics of data science and machine learning techniques. Would also need to be comfortable with coding and applied aspects of machine learning.
