Good intro. Google Photos showed all the pix in my google drive folders (recent uploads) without any action on my part. I had new photo collections automatically created from my google profile pix going back almost ten years. I was confused because Google Drive shows the image file and folder names, while Google Photos shows the image files without file name / folder interface. I blame this cognitive dissonance on the difference between the old fashioned Google Drive skeumorphic user interface design for desktop users with icon, file, and folders for desktop users, and the newer Google Photo flat interface design for cell (mobile) phone and tablet users with calendar date as a textual interface. Also to blame was the google web app that created a folder full of files and folders (google photos) from my photos going back to the year 2000.
