I usually wouldn't complain about battery life but when I filmed the first part of the video, I already had the phone for almost 3 weeks and most days it would be empty in the beginning of the afternoon (which is really bad). Been watching so many videos and reviews. Am leaning towards Pixel 6 Pro over S21Ultra because everyone keeps insisting that Pixels are a better point and shoot experience where the pics come out great. But why Pixel only do 4x optical and not 10x? :(

I’ve owned both the 6 Pro and the S21 Ultra and used extensively. The 6 Pro is better in my opinion especially with a few tweaks in future updates. The 10X on the S21 Ultra isn’t that great in real world use. If you try and use it during video there is a strange pulsing effect unless you are using it on a tripod. The user experience is also better on the 6 Pro. Just my two cents.

Thanks for your help. I looked at the video at the library. actually the other one.The video quality is OK, but the selfie camera looked out of focus. Did you notice the sky flickering/ dark to bright areas issue, or was it fixed Maybe im expecting too much out of it. Did you try vlogging on the rear camera at all? Thanks

The front facing camera is has fixed focus. They expect you to hold it at full arm length the get the best sharpness. I did try using the rear facing cameras, the focus is much better but it's a pain to use because you are guessing if you are in the shot or not. In my experience, if the sky is flickering, it's that there's another light source around and the camera has a hard time staying in sync. I use my Pixel 6 Pro quite often to get shots when I don't want to take out another camera but if you really want the best video quality for vlogging, I would suggest looking into a camera like the DJI Osmo Pocket 3. I just received mine and I am blow away by how good the video is. Thank you for the review. I've been debating about getting this or the iPhone 13 Max pro. I have a Pixel now and love it but it's outdated. I wasn't sure which one to get next. They go neck and neck as far as most of the reviews especially for the photography, but I'm a pixel fan and I'm used to Android plus it's a lot less expensive than iPhone. I have a question, what video editing software do you have on the phone? Is it one you had to add or is it pre-installed on the Pixel 6?

I love my Pixel too! There is no pre-installed video editing app. I usually use VN Editor on my phone, it's a great free option. I also just downloaded Splice but haven't really tried it out.

Based on how quickly they are adding and changing things to Android 12, I wouldn't be surprised if they do similar things with the other cameras. That doesn't mean you should ignore that it is currently not as refined but it is something to keep in mind for the future.

I am not a fanboy, yet no problem with phone what so ever, actually this is the first phone that i am happy about its battery! The only thing I am not happy about is a better camera interface and more freedom on how I want to use camera, instead google does that for me or telling me how to use it! I agree with you! More control in the camera app would be very nice. They could pretty easily add a "pro" mode but I guess Google goals is to create the most powerful camera that requires the less understanding possible... exactly the opposite of what a PRO wants! With that being said, you can still get the RAW image which leaves a lot of flexibility in the editing. I didn't realize that none of the third-party apps can use the telephoto and wide-angle, that's a pretty big bummer 😥

Yes and no. The lens at 4x is sharp and detailed and usually takes nice portraits. The problem is that I do not think 4x is close enough for taking some baseball photos and the digital zoom quickly becomes bad.

The video was really upgraded in the Pixel 6. They used HDR so there's more detail in highlights and shadows. The sound is also improved. Nice review with lots of pictures. It must have taken you a long time to shoot and select the pictures. Two questions: 1. When you set the settings at around 7 minutes, do the setting values stay for the next shot, or do you have to set them again? 2. When the camera takes a long time to compose a shot, is that similar to a slow shutter speed in a conventional camera, requiring you to hold still to avoid camera shake and blur?

Happy you enjoyed all the pictures included! Yes, it took a lot of time to make but I try making the review I would like to see 😉 1. You can lock them when taking multiple pictures but the moment you open/close the app it's reset. 2. No, it's all AI based. Basically, they take multiple pictures with a high shutter and then analyse the movement between the shots to determine the direction and amount of blur to apply.

@woofinu Oh that's different! I was talking about the new "motion" photos. For night sight, it does take a few "long" exposures. They are usually about 1s each and they will ask to try and hold the phone steady but you don't need to be super steady: a shaky hand will work just fine :)

Happy you enjoyed it, sorry I speak too fast. I usually try to remind to slow down when speaking in videos but it's hard and unnatural. Yes, the Pixel 6 is still worth it! We just got the improved night sight from Pixel 7 and it's amazing! The only thing that the Pixel 7 has that I miss, is the better digital zoom. On the Pixel 6 I stick to the lenses and don't use digital zoom.

It's really app by app. The general idea is that compression algorithms are very CPU intensive. It's easier to make a more performant one for iPhone because there is only one processor per generation of iPhone. On the Android side, the algorithm must work on super performant phones, but also super low-end phones. Most companies decide to put one algorithm that will work on all Android phones instead of adding multiple ones. I personally don't see a significant difference between posting on iOS and Android these days so I wouldn't worry about that!

hi, i would like to buy pixel 6 only to record videos in 4K 30 fps. I would also like to record 2 hours of air-conditioned car video on the device to avoid overheating. I would like to know if it is a phone that overheats when I record videos and if it has bugs.

I cannot say if that would work or not. The phone does become hot when filming 4k footage so it might be a problem for you. Why don't you look at buying a DJI Pocket 2, GoPro and Insta360 Go? They would all be better at filming because that all they do!

@@loicba i come from 2 years of gopro. Unfortunately after 40 minutes of video it has bugs etc. I know a guy who also does 3 hours of video with pixel 4.

Superb in depth review. I disagree with the selfie camera though I find it pretty average. I just upgraded from the Huawei P30 PRO and i find that can still match this camera at times and has a far better selfie camera. I don't like to keep choosing the camera timer aswell. It should be saved until I want to change it next time. The charging is slow for a new flagship aswell but otherwise I love it. Great photos! 👍

A lot of good points! I haven't tested any of the Huawei phone but definitely would like too because they seem to be pulling out more information from the sensors.

@@loicba I have since got used to the selfie camera and get some great shots now especially with the great editing options on the P6 Pro. I'll need to a side by side comparison with my Huawei P30 PRO. 👍

Huawei phones have great cameras, and really good hardware, but after 3 years my huawei p30 software just feels outdated, and newer huawei phones dont even have google services

Are you speeding your dialogue up in post? If not, take a breath and slow down a little. I changed the playback speed to 0.75 and it was much better. Other than that, great content!

great and thorough review, i rly enjoyed it as usual. im very impressed with the photo quality in general, but im rly disappointed in the edge detection (didnt improve much over 2 generations) and video quality. video is much better but still not competing with iphones :( i cant wait for p7, or even the pixel fold and watch! ecq tout ce qui est smart features/ai marche bien en francais aussi, gnr live caption, call screen, et les choses qui se font offline maintenant? si oui, ecq ca switch facilement entre anglais et francais? jespère que c mieux, pcq mon p4 xl est à chier en franglais (probablement ma faute lol)

Ouais le edge detection est vraiment décevant puisque ça aurait été une super occasion pour show off leur nouveau processeur. Je suis juste content qu'ils ont pris la vidéo un peu plus au sérieux cette fois-ci et j'ai espoir que dans quelques générations ça va être rendu aussi bon! À ma connaissance, non, le call screening et les autres technologies d'IA pour le téléphone ne fonctionnent pas en français 😢 Par contre, Google Assistant semble fonctionner dans les deux langues mais il m'énerve un peu puisqu'il me répond parfois en français quand je demande des affaires en anglais... Sinon, les suggestions pour le clavier semble bien s'adapter à mon franglais 😀

Sorry for the delay, yes! All lenses work at 4k/30fps. The only reason it wouldn't is because another setting is overwriting it (ex: the stabilization mode)
