The one thing most reviewers forget to mention is the reliability of the point and shoot capabilities of a phone. The biggest killer feature of the Pixel phones. I'm one of those people who buy several flagships every year, but always end up back with the Pixel for its reliable camera. Upgrade from Tensor G3 to G4 is barely an upgrade at all. With G3 you get Snap 888+ level of performance, which is quite enough, even though it's not at all a gaming phone. But that's only with one bluetooth device out of the 10 I use. I think it's a good phone and even though it might not be as fast as a S24 or an iPhone, there's still much less lag and bugs in the operating system than any Galaxy device in my experience. It's quite well optimized. And battery life is much better than I expected. I go to bed with 30-40%, even if I have 3 screen hours and 1 hour of bluetooth audio playback a day. I've had the 8 Pro since December and I have loved it. I do think that 128GB base storage for a "Pro" phone is unreasonable, especially when I got through half of it in 3 months from video and photos alone. Basing a phone's SoC purely on benchmarking is rather dismissive seeing that nobody is really pushing their phone's performance 24/7. Plus it omits the day-to-day usage where it spends many hours doing nothing besides calls, texts, KZbin and social media. I have had mine record, edit and render 4K video via PowerDirector and other than slight heat, there were no issues with it. A Pixel isn't trying to be a powerhouse like Apple, Samsung or Xiaomi. It endeavours to be good at what its made for. Google made a big deal about Video Boost, but by default it is turned off and I have forgotten it even exists. This "After the Buzz" series is good, keep them coming. However, I do disagree a little with the assessment. Pixel phones, including the Pro, are still cheaper than other flagships; the price often drops which makes them even cheaper. Pixels are usually a better value, their performance is great in everyday life regardless of benchmarks, and my experience so far has been even better than when I was using a Samsung flagship. Sure, the display could be better, but it is still good. I always get compliments on pictures and videos I take. Even data transfer over Quick Share is surprisingly good, and fast. Even at full retail price Pixels are cheaper than the competition and arguably they are the better buy; greater value.

I was at the beach today with my friend, I could barely see anything on my 8 pro , while she showed me videos on her iphone 15 and the screen was bright and clear. Pixels advertise high peak brightness, but that lasts a minute, then they overheat and throttle everything, including dimming the screen. Even at home peak brightness barely lasts. I had a OP12 for a few days, and that screen was bright and staid bright for a long time, too bad it got the green line and i decided to return it, instead of replace it.

@@pagadqs pretty sure the screen wasn’t so bright because of the heat. What where you doing in that situation? Used the phone a lot?

I Live in Florida Brightness Capital of the World, Sunshine State after all. This is the ONLY Phone I've used in the This State where I can actually see the screen in direct Sunlight. I work outside and cover the whole state this is a Daily Use Case. Sounds like you either have no idea how to use your phone, you're lying or you somehow got a Defective Model. Which I've heard nothing about sooo I guess.."Cool Story Bro"

I treated myself to Pixel 8 Pro, the phone calls are no better than a burner phone.

Think I may go back to the pixel 8 pro or either the smaller 9 pro and trade my s24+ in

With all due respect, if you are complaining about the weight balance of a phone you are being way too picky.

they should just change to snapdrgon chips and you got the best phone of all time...

Tensor runs like mediatek good at some things sucks at heavy lifting! Hard pass on the pixels this year.

Least efficient and worst performing at the price bracket. Phones from 3 years ago beat it and the pixel still can't run local LLM s. The iPhone 12 can run local llm s. The only reason I like the pixels is the unlockable bootloader because that was the spirit of open source 😢

Unless you buy one from Verizon here in the States then you'll have a locked bootloader. Samsung phones not from the US and Canada have unlocked bootloaders.

@@DavidNgo86 that's not true my friend. Who told you these lies? Canada has banned carrier locking since 2017. And buying from Google store let's you buy unlocked

@@DavidNgo86 sim locking(carrier locking) and bootloader are not the same thing. Also Samsungs are not carrier locked. I think you are confusing the two
