Pre-ordered instantly being very pleased the dock was included. It's going to replace an older 5" hub and an old macbook, I've never liked multi-monitor gaming setups, so it's going to be mostly used for looking up stuff while gaming, and also music while working I think. Hopefully the concept works, as they *could* later release a high-end tablet that's still compatible with the dock.

2:22 Google: 80% of tablet use happens in the home MKBHD: So for that other 20% of the time when it's sitting around the house you can put it on a dock. Even the best of us, even MKBHD, can lack comprehension sometimes 😅 For those who don't understand, Google meant that 80% of time you are using your tablet in your house and 20% outside of your house. At IO, they even expanded on that and said that it remains dormant in the house for long stretches of time.

I said it many times already and share the same opinion still now. No matter how good Android tablet‘s hardware is going to be, the lag of many high-quality apps (especially 3rd party) makes it useless. Only if you need it for basic tasks it‘s considerable but even then i‘d have ask why you wouldn‘t choose iPad with all the software advantages. Other tablets may also have a pencil but not any other has so many high quality apps that support it

lol. Sometime I'm flabbergasted by how clueless you youtuber commenters are. The purpose of this tablet is to be a home assistant and a tablet for a family to use around the house. That is the use case. It's not intended to compete with iPad with high end apps. You understand this right? Please tell me you're smarter than this. This is just a tablet you use around the house and maybe give to your kids to consume media. You don't need high end apps to do that. 🤦♂

@rhoharane Жыл бұрын
I think this will be terrible for stylus-heavy use. You'd be better off with one of cheaper Samsung tablets that actually have a stylus as a selling point. S-pens are tried and tested Wacom tech in terms of reliability, precision and usability, and Samsung's OSes have actual stylus-friendly features. Third-party pens that the tablet wasn't purpose-built for are super jank because there's so much engineering that needs to go into the digitizer for it to be usable for something as precision- and latency- sensitive as handwriting. I've tried the pens that are just an afterthought feature and they are just absolutely unusable unless the shape you want to make is the size of almost half the screen. Do not waste your money on imagined quality regarding this aspect, especially as Google has never had a track record of ever building good stylus support on any product. It's not a quality a device can accidentally have. If they put in the work to make styluses function decently, you can bet that they'd market it heavily. Even the Microsoft Surface pens aren't known to be the absolute top quality, but it's very usable and they still had to design their pen tech with purpose.

I remember hearing in one of their videos that the speaker can't play music when undocked, which is unfortunate, but that means if they'd added that feature it would have been more expensive and so had lower adoption. Glad they went this route for v1, since it's already enough to replace my Home Hub Max (but be much better since it's an actual Android device). I do hope they maybe make a v2 with that ability, though!
