Leaving the Apple ecosystem wasn't hard for me at all. Wanna know why? iMessage is cool and all...but Texting and calling will always get the job done. Most of my apps are Google based(music, movies, books, cloud apps, etc) and those apps are cross platform so I can access my data on virtually any phone(iOS or Android). The trick is not to invest in Apple's software. Their mission is to hold you hostage lol. Google, like Android, gives you the option to choose whatever the hell you want. Google's apps are largely better anyway.

The Pixel is so much better than the iphone in every single way, except for water resistance. The pictures and videos are better; It's not over-saturated like apple users say, it does make more pleasing photos with great colors, better stabilization, and better dynamic range. The AI is better with Google Assistant, often answering questions two to three times faster than Siri. The android os is better and more intuitive. To be honest i find pure stock android simpler than ios, but I guess it just depends on what you are used to, and its more customizable. I can make my phone look like how I want it look, not like how a company thinks my phone should look. I even have the ability to play my old nes and gameboy games with ease whenever i want. I can download songs for free on my phone whenever i want. Also, you can find a lot of apps on the play store for free, that cost money on the app store. There's even entire categories of apps that the app store will never have. And the reception is better as well. There's 24/7 support built into the phone, easily found in the settings with a swipe to the right, where you can chat with someone to help you. It's very fast and snappy without any lag. There's no camera bump. There's a headphone jack. There's fast charging. It has better battery life and a higher resolution amoled display. It has a better screen to bezel size ratio. There's free unlimited storage for photos and videos at original quality on google photos. And if you truly think the phone is ugly, then slapping a D brand skin on it will make it look pretty dope. And also, you can expect a lot more features to come next year on the pixel 2.

Future pixel user but still liked the video. If you can't give up iMessage and tighter privacy with your data, then I don't blame you for keeping the iPhone. In my personal taste I'm willing to sacrifice my data for google's services/A.I. I love Google Now, Maps, assistant more than I care about google not using my data. It's good to see another phone with the same caliber of polish the iPhone offers. Even iPhone users should be happy, competition is good. Good video.

At 0:35, Stern shows the headphone jack, which Apple removed from the iPhone 7, because it is antiquated in the face of wireless technology. Stern is probably pleased, but it is short-lived when Google released the Pixel 2, which has no headphone jack. A lot of people shocked by how Apple made a very bold decision and eventually other companies have followed suit.

iMessage iMessage iMessage!!! Personally I'm not a huge fan of the pixel, it seems like a solid device but Nexus had more character. But seriously, why does every non-android blog deduce points for apple lock-in? That's like going to a Burger place and leaving a bad review because they didn't serve Falaffel. Well ok, the analogy is flawed since a burger place would actually be allowed to serve Falaffel, whereas google isn't. I think it's fair to mention that there isn't anything similar to iMessage on android, but honestly outside of the US most people rely on whatsapp/facebook messenger anyways, so sure it's a nice to have but not necessary. Ideally, there'd be an open online messaging protocol that worked on every OS and had clients with text messaging as fallback mode.

Goole allo is like iMessages, but it's available on ios and android. There is also hangouts which you can use on ios, android, and your computer!

Saagar Arya allo is more similar to whatsapp since it doesn't offer SMS fallback. The beauty of iMessage is that theoretically I can communicate with all of my contacts through a single app. Also, this works without me being the the annoying guy telling others to install an app. Sure, Allo is cross platform, but no one installed it apart from Google fan boys. I have an urge to communicate with all my friends through one single app, and there's nothing on Android that does that. And no, hangouts doesn't count because most of the time it doesn't work at all.

I used iPhone4 then shift to note 2 and then I shift back to iPhone. Android phone is nice for exploring new fresh things, I like the spirit of Google developing it, but based on my experience, my note 2 just cannot simply do want I told it to do, but it is a perfect "smartphone" for embarrassing you in the key moment. Lag is actually the second critical defect to me, the mute function is the first defect. When I am in a the meeting I only need to shift one physical button and the iPhone will "shut up". however, my note 2 can always ringing during the meetings, even after a series of complicated operation for muting it down, except turn it off. iPhone is not the best newest fastest finest greatest phone, but it can just simply follow my order that is the key.

texts go via cellular data, or wi-fi, and if they can't go that way, they will go SMS. Also the information is all encrypted and security is stronger than the FBI would like. But imessage can't go to non-phone users. It's deeply integrated into the phone as well. Basically it's one of the best features of the iPhone.
