I was a 100% climate change believer (in boots and all including spending 20K to put solar panels on my roof) until the day I watched a debate featuring Dr Roy Spencer. The debate was an hour long with a Q&A and by the time it was over it made me want to investigate the many claims that were being made. I read Dr Spencers book Climate Confusion and then another book by Dr Tim Ball and immersed myself in understanding the argument being put forward by the skeptic community. Now after careful consideration of many of the facts I find myself to be a skeptic. The most amazing thing that I experienced after this journey was the lifting of a level of anxiety about our existence that I didn't even realise I had.

Your right about that, Look at all the historic benchmarks that have been set in the past and then never actually came to fruition. The only warming due to humans we have measured is that due to the urban and airport runway heat island effects that have contaminated the surface data sets. We see this clearly by comparing the USHCN ( US Historical Climate Network) showing significant warming with the more recent pristine USCRN (US Climate Reference Network) - based on the World Meteorological Standard 1 compared to the former only containing 10% of such sites - that shows cooling in the contiguous USA over the years since 2005.

Without the greenhouse gases CO2 and CH4, this planet would be an ice ball with an albedo of .9, which would make the Earth colder than the moon with an albedo of .12 and a mean temperature of -18C. @@bencoad8492 The first part is correct. Take the output of the sun at the surface and multiply that by the square root of the distance. The problem with that is that calculates to be about -18C. That's a discrepancy of +33C on the Earth. N2 and O2 are transparent to infrared white, and ultraviolet photons. It doesn't matter how dense the atmosphere is. Light will go right on through as if it isn't there. The sun's variance is .1% every 5.5 years. The Sun's magnetic field strength is that variance. During Earth's history, about roughly 640 and 710 million years ago, the Earth turned into an ice ball that lasted about 10 million years or so each time. Consequently, there are drop stones at the equator that only can be carried by massive glaciers. Also, there are about a billion years missing in the geological record at the Grand Canyon. That means there was some kind of erosion that wiped that record out. So, each time Earth turned into an ice ball, that would mean earth's albedo would be .9 or 90% of the sunlight would be reflected off Earth's surface back into outer space. That would make Earth's mean temperature way below -18C. Also, the Sun was about 10% cooler than it is today. Exactly how do you think Earth came out of that frozen state both times?

It's always irritated me how our taxes pay for the grant money that's awarded to PIs at universities; and 90% of that research is locked behind a paywall. It's our money that provided the resources for that research; we should have the right to read the research papers, access the source code and access the data. Publicly funded research belongs to the public.

The Questions. 1) Why is the Earth changing? 2) Why does it do this? 3) Is this human caused? 4) How much is solar influence? The Answers: 1) Earth Cycles, like seasons but on a 3,ooo and 6,ooo year cycle. 2) Geomagnetic reversal, or in plain english = Magnetic Poles are moving. 3) No. This is a natural Earth cycle and has little to do with humans. Pollution bad, carbon good. 4) A great deal of solar influence plays into this equation, though it is the Earth itself that changes not the Sun's influence. However, worth noting is that with the failing strength of Earth's magnetic field during a pole reversal causes particle over-penetration of the atmosphere. This in turn causes issues in weather, aggrivating the severity of storms and temperature extremes on both ends of the hot and cold spectrum. This has nothing to do, with CO2. It's a big solar system with a lot of moving parts. Not everything in it is centered around us humans.

@@morninboy What are your thought on climate change and the common predictions being off in terms ot severity and time scales? Is it possible that we actually have enough time to find better energy sources without rushing to eliminate fossil fuels? Perhaps over the course of several decades, I mean. Obviously we need to find greener energy sources but I'm hoping that we can take our time to find ways of making those sources at least comparable to natural gas and fossil fuels before trying to replace the older model. I'm an optimist in this regard but I'm also genuinely curious about your views on my statements and your answers to my questions. I'm being genuine and have no malice or sarcasm in my heart at the moment.

@@sleepykittyH My honest view is we are FKED. The world is about to see COP 27 In Egypt November 2022. GHG's have gone up every year since COP 1. I'm currently referring to it as COP out 27, another blah, blah, blah, conference as it has been ineffective since the beginning. A bunch of self righteous individuals fly from around the world to congratulate themselves on their perceived important social status An honest effort should of been made 40 years ago to implement all aspects of halting this impending disaster. Current CO2 levels have us set for a minimum 3 degree rise it temperatures. This does not factor in feed back loops and still constantly rising CO2 levels. With no humans the environment would take substantially more than ten thousand years to return to pre industrialization levels of GHG's. In the mean time seven billion people and rising are collectively contributing to release two hundred and fifty million years of stored carbon into the atmosphere. This is all very unfortunate as all solutions are at hand but selfish dishonest and conflicting interests are preventing an immediate implementation. I see this as being very sad because an amazing animal has arisen out of 13.78 billion years of a continually evolving universe. This creature through collective knowledge, observation, technology and mathematics has been able to see its special place in the universe and share it with humanity. Will it all be for nothing as we are proving to be our own worst enemy? This does not represent all of us but an emergency is not being given the attention it needs. Foot note: I have been building green passive solar homes since 1981and currently have a net zero home under construction.

You can find stories of climate scientists from all over the world criticising the narrative and the way that many use the numbers and calling for a re-evaluation and retooling of the math to fit all the metrics as far back as 2006. Some propaganda groups want you to believe that all the climate scientists agree and they really don't and they haven't for a while. There was even a Ted Talk on the Subject that has since been removed in the last few years with the height of all this BS that was over an hour long that was on that very subject and talked about the math. What math they weren't using. And even mentioned thta when all of the metrics were offered up a decent amount of those scientists refused to use them because the math didn't line up and they couldn't take them to various groups like Governments to get something like 2 billion annually in financial backing from them.

I remember an off hand lecture we got from an engineering professor about data projections.. Which was basically that models are to be used to explain the data you have collected.
