I just had a different idea. You could put multiple single selections at the far right, and then =JOIN() them into the column with the complete list. I will grant that it's a bit annoying, but it's all within functionality of sheets (and no script).

Thanks for the idea! I'm actually looking a way within Google Sheets and no script. I'm trying to make the sheet as friendly as possible for other people who don't need to look into other parts like scripts.

Hey, I would like to know, if it would be possible to add into the script, that it would copy Formatting for the individual checkboxes from the column it is copying from. I'm horrible when it comes to any kind of programming, and I would apreciate some help with this. Either way.. great video!

I believe google has implemented this function in to google Sheets now so you don't have to worry about any methods he mentioned anymore. It is a built-in function now.

Good video but I think the like / dislike ratio is not great (7.9 : 1) because the title is misleading. As it is written "Google Sheets | Three Alternatives for Multi-Select Dropdowns" sounds like three solutions that work from within Sheets. Also, it takes a while before we find out it's not the case which can feel like we were intentionally tricked. Plus, to someone looking quickly who doesn't the service, the bit ly link can look like an undisclosed sponsor link. I understand if you want to keep the "Google Sheets |" part for cohesion with other video titles in a series, but maybe I'd change the rest for something like: "Multi-Select Dropdowns: Sheets Solution + Two Alternatives" To reduce chances of feelings of time waste even further, I'd rename the "Mystery solution" part to something like "Third Solution: notion . so" Anyway, just my thoughts on the matter. Thanks for the feedback. I appreciate you taking the time to let me know your thoughts. I see the video as showing alternatives to Google Sheets multi-select drop downs. The viewer then finds out what they are. Using another program is a valid alternative to this issue that occurs in Sheets. For what it's worth though, I think your title is a good one too.

I don't have the option to insert a form under my INSERT dropdown in Sheets. Has this option been removed, or do I need to somehow update my version of Google Sheets?

You wouldn't need to update the version, Google controls that. My best guess is that you don't have enough permissions for the sheet. If you are the owner of the Sheet, you should be able to do it.

No, it only works on one at a time.

can i take a cell with multiple inputs and give them a value to be calculated in another cell, eg. the sun and the record newspaper one is 0.70 and the other is 0.95 together would be 1.65 but then advance this for a full week?

I followed all of the script instructions but when I opened the sidebar, all I saw was "fill active cell" and "rebuild options" buttons, neither of which did anything :(

I saw that it worked in the copy and realized that it just isn't seeing the values associated with the dropdown, maybe its a think on my end...

@@gamingstew703 I had the exact same issue and after some trial and error I found out that it is because I was logged into multiple google accounts at the same time. Apparently this is an old and known bug regarding apps script and the only way to fix it is to log out of the other acocunts...

Hi super informative, is it possible to make each choices transposed vertically (the 2nd choice will be entered on the 2nd row, below the 1st choice) I am going to use it for a guest with multiple room bookings, bec. each rooms are with different prices. @@ProlificOaktree what if I want to know the # responses to each checkbox separately ( such as barriers to care: shortage of supplies, shortage of staff, acuity of patients or none) I want to add them up by each barrier separately and am having trouble with that.

Yeah, great. And if you permit users to be able to change their form (which you would want to do quite often) after they submit it, checkboxes won't work. They won't be able to undo previous choices, but will be able to add new ones. So, you guessed it ... practically useless.
