If you've been looking to create a professional looking about me style website or perhaps you need to create a simple 5 to 10 page website for casual use then I highly suggest you use Google Sites.
Is it the perfect website builder? No. After having used Google Sites for the last 30 days, here are some pros and cons:
PROS:
-The templates you use look great. Everything is responsive and looks fantastic on mobile devices and it's very easy to edit and design your website with their built in drag and drop editor.
-Excellent option for any casual website, about me website that will be 5-10 pages long.
-Can setup a custom domain name that is https secure. Amazing!
CONS:
- No naked url's allowed. Your website must have the "www" in the URL.
- Visitors who try to visit your websites naked domain name will be presented with a "not found" error instead of being redirected.
- Even if you use a custom domain name, your Google Sites URL is still publicly available allowing for duplicate content where people can view your website via the custom domain name or the Google Sites sub domain URL.
- No control over page titles or the meta description. Your website will be poorly optimized for SEO.
- You must have a "home" link in your menu bar and you will have the homepage and menu link for home be duplicate pages. It's weird I know.
- Unlike Blogger, you can not monetize with Adsense

You can get the naked url to work just fine. You can customize the url freely for each page. You may want to research your cons a bit better. One real issue is the lack of control of the height of images. Also adding an audio player that works across platforms is a challenge. Cheers.

Sure if you have a GSuite account but most don’t. Yes you can adjust the URL of pages. Never made the claim you can’t. My main issue is the lack of control over the on page SEO. Anyways, thanks for the comment.

This content was very helpful I admittedly was/am feeling a little lost. In short - I was wondering if I owed the domain though a third party sight like Name Cheap could I just have that sight redirect to my google sight to bypass the naked domain thing you were talking about? In longer - I want to be able to direct people to my web sight. I am making a TTRPG and I want people to be able to find my web sight easily so they can download character sheets, maps, and other content they might need. I purchased the web domain name as soon as I as finalized the name. I was wondering if this could be a kind of workaround or if there is something I don't know that would prevent that from working?

These are two totally different CMS. You can move away sure, but you'll need to copy and paste the content from Squarespace to Google Sites. A slow, tedious process depending on how complex the site is.

@@DavidUtke please do, i'm currently trying to decide if i need to change my small business page from google sites to something like zyro or gator. my page isn't showing up well on SEO and the page speed insights look like the load time is horrible (esp on mobile)due to all kinds of extra code that can't be changed either. The duplicate "home" page is still there and its screwing up not being able to set my homepage as canonical, which I'm guessing is messing up my SEO as well.
