Thanks Steve for another excellent video and tutorial. I have to say, I do use Google Slides as a live presentation tool. The main reason I do is because of the seamless integration with Chromecast. I do a weekly teaching presentation I a very small venue where I have extremely limited technical support. Therefore, I am able to bring a large screen television, hook up my Chromecast to the HDMI, connect it to the available WiFi, and run my entire presentation (including embbeded videos) from my Android phone. I have been asked several times, after a presentation, who do I have running my presentation during my presentation. I love seeing their recation when I pull out my phone and glance at it. They typically respond with, "No!" And I say "Yes!" Then they say, "Wow!" Gotta love tech!!!

Thanks for another great video, Steve. I love Google Slides. I use it to make presentations of vacations to share with family. I like the ease of using Google Photos and Google Keep with it. I take quick notes with dates in Google Keep and add tags. I also upload pictures to Google Photos. When I use Slides, I open up the Keep notepad through Tools and locate the notes I want with Search. The Explore function is nice for quick research or layout suggestions. I also use Slides to make e-cards for family birthdays, Mother's Day, anniversaries, etc. Slides has a lot of great features and Google continues to add more.

Great tool. I use it even for building printed documents, leaflets, flyers.... As all assets are vectors you have no issues when you send the exported pdf to a printer. You can make documents with precise dimensions. When you import photographs you just make sure they are on high definition.

Good vid. I love using Google slideshow but I use it only to collaborate on the slideshow build with clients. I use barebones mode only because it gives the client a feeling of progress. After approval I export and then build a final Keynote presentation. Clients are shocked by the engagement and collaboration it provides.

I love Google Slides. 😍😍😍 I use it to make scrapbooks and notebooks. At the beginning of creating new slides, I can set page sizes of any dimensions, for example A4 in pixels. If I get bored with fonts, I just import new fonts from Google Fonts. I love funky, shouty fonts that express personalities.

Hi Steve and thanks for the video. I use Slides almost exclusively and I have found the new add-ons quite helpful. Unsplash photos lets you put in quality photos instantly and Shutterstock editor is great for putting content into pictures. Photo slideshow is a great add-on for importing multiple photos from Drive or Photos into single slides. I find the Themes feature very limited and I use slidescarnival.com to pick a great looking presentation to work from (works for Powerpoint too). The Explore button is a must for time saving when you are building your slide show and the AI there is getting better and better.

Question for Dave: I have not seen you use any type of "Mind Map" tool for organizing and planning. I have been using MindManager by MindJet for 12+ years. You might look at it. It is a way to create a planning diagram very quickly in a graphic mode that is similar to outlining.

Thank you for your very clear and informative tutorial. I am deciding between upgrading to Office 365 (from office 2003!), or going with Google Docs and Google Slides. I present classes in hotel conference rooms to groups of 20-50 students. My presentations are very simple and I don't need a bunch of bells and whistles, but I do need to be able to have bullet points , builds and a "presenters view" (I can see upcoming slide on my laptop but not on the screen). You said numerous times that Google Slides are not good for live presentations due to limited functions, but given I don't need a lot, what's your recommendation? Thanks in advance!

Steve, forgive this amateur question about inserting images into Google Docs, but when you publish (link to) it, must you have the image(s) IN Google Photos for them to show, or do they embed automatically from where you added the image(s) from your computer? I need to make an ebook(s) and want to do it the best way.Thanks!

For and Ebook I think you can include the link fromm Photos, but I am not sure that is the best route. I would look to ebook experts for help here.

Hi Steve thanks. Does anyone here know the answer? For a small five to ten page pdf? Do the images have to be INSIDE your Google Photos, so after you;ve hit "publish as pdf" to save this Google Doc your image(s) are intact and viewable in your published, linked pdf little ebook? Or can you just add the image(s) from your computer and no need to have them come from your Google Photos? Again, forgive my stupidity but I would love to know. I mean- this seems to be a simple question- anyone?

I really like everything about this, but have an accessibility need if I'm to use in online courses at our university. The HTML output looks like it should work great for screen readers (like JAWS) EXCEPT that it doesn't render headings as Headings (eg - , , etc.) Anyone know how to make that happen?

Not really, you can import MP4s and have them autoplay, but is is a work-around and not a great solution. Better to use a full screen display and use screencasting software to capture audio and video

Why wouldn't you use Slides for a live presentation? I use it in my classroom. What are the disadvantages of using it that was as opposed to powerpoint?

Limited transitions is th primary reason, I can build a better "show" in Keynote. Often you need to have your presentation in Powerpoint format for conferences etc. The ability to work offline, on flights (although you can McGiver that ability with Google as well) Plus you can create more elaborate templates, including bullet gfx. and habit!

all of our webinars (for many years now) are done using Google Slides. I think 'habit' is the only reason not to go all in. :-)

@@dottotech I just need to do an 8 minute presentation in front of about 20 people or so. It's going to be fairly simple. I can't see why Google Slides wouldn't suffice. Now I want to run it off my smartphone, trying to figure how to run it to a projector. HDMI adapter and cable? Use my Chromecast cable and use the building's wifi or create my own hotspot?

The company where I work uses G-Suite, i don't know why, but I still prefer powerpoint ... it is just a lot more powerful and the interface is easier to use, more graphics, with slides I have to find stuff in those not so easy to find places.

I found google slides to be very limited when it comes to animation, colors, audio and visual effects. So if you are working on a presentation that doesn't require these features google slides will be a good choice. If you care about making a stunning presentation then powerpoint is what you need, no doubt about it.
