Curious way to test a program: without using it. For those who want to compare both programs, the logical thing to do is to use a sufficiently long text, in a language one knows a little, and translate it into your main language --it seems that for the author of the video it is English--, and see if the translation is coherent.

DeepL has window app, and you can quick translate selected texts from other programs (word, pdf, notepad) than web browser but browser too. Just select text you want to translate and do 2x Ctrl+C. DeepL app will open with translated text. In google you need copy text and paste to web side every time. In DeepL a cool feature is also that you can write a text in your language in any program where you can write texts - even here in comment - then 2x Ctrl+C, and it will translate it for you different language of your choice in popup window and you can press 'replace' button to replace all the text with the translation. Quicker then copy, select program and paste.

I think both of them are useful in translating. So now I often use them in Immersive Translate.

What I hate about Google Translate is that it seemingly searches for every letter it has in the search library, which gives quite a few hits in a month.

Are you using the web version of Google Translator? I use the app translators. On iPhone, I compare translations in the three apps made by Microsoft, Apple, and Google. Translation apps don’t always provide same answer or examples in sentences, slang and grammar. Therefore, I search KZbin for clues. My most trusted sources are EasyGerman, YourGermanTeachers, ProfessorAntrim and a few others. Always I take notes and revisit saved lists in the translation apps. Before there were online tools, I learned that no single book or person holds all answers nor explain them the same way. Even with DeepL, be careful because there’s no guarantee that it captures and delivers the most accurate results either. In English, a word like “mark” can have over 10 different meanings with other words or by itself. And if your source is a native speaker, ask for other details. Always use more than one source.
