Once there's full Linux support like hardware acceleration, usb, sounds, etc, most would probably switch to a Pixelbook or slate but I'm really impressed that Google doesn't forces them to use their own products. You can also find many iPhones in their campus and that's not at all a bad thing

No you don't. I was an intern at Google and I consider myself to be a normal person. There were like 3 normal students also in the video, nothing superhuman. The only thing you need to be is passionate about what you do, be hard working and don't give up easily. Don't be afraid of trying :).

Oktober Love I share the same love for computer science even though I am just entering my teens I have worked with so many mentors at local colleges learning how to code and 3 of my mentors have been hired by google and it has made me want to get a job a google so much for apparent, I just hope one day my dreams come true. (I too like web dev I can make a pretty solid website with straight code in about 30 minutes with just a piece of paper and write out all the code you need)

Google's bread and butter is their mobile OS, I doubt their employees use Iphones, this video was from 2013, now Google has introduced Chrome OS, however, Mac OS is still great for programming and overall productivity

That sounds pretty ambitious. You could find a way of doing something no one has ever thought of before. Or, actually do something no one has done before. Whichever, it has to be great. Van Vroeger the way employer Branding works is that the company „promises“ you that’s how work there is. If things in such a video are completely wrong then the current employees would actually come forward and complain hard. So generally speaking you can sort of trust employer branding vids from big corporations.

I guess it's more a matter of what gets the job done. I heard a while back that they ditched Windows for the most part because of the security issues but other than that employees can choose which platform they use. It's about being productive.

Niosus I agree with you haha so many comments on this. It is all about what gets the Job done. Macs are good devices to use to get the job done WELL. Windows are so much more unlocked and I would say ditching them for security reasons sounds about right although they are still used obviously for development and personal preference by googlers. Chromebooks are also used aswell as their online development and production capabilities are extremely good so for them to be seen around is not un heard of.

I would guess Windows is also out because everyone has to collaborate, and the simple issue of CRLF for Windows versus LF for UNIX and UNIX-like operating systems is enough of a headache by itself. Also, Windows doesn't work perfectly with shares using NFS and other UNIX-originated technologies, and Flash drives formatted for ext4 are out.
