Nigeria has the 4th highest maternal death rate in the world. Hospitals in Lagos rely on medical supplies from blood banks, but deliveries often arrive too late.
LifeBank is a team that uses Google Maps to connect dispatch riders with blood banks and hospitals in need. The crew of this short documentary spent a month embedded in a Lagos hospital, following six pregnant women and four LifeBank delivery riders on a mission to save as many lives as possible.

just some questions: why the bike doesn't have a siren installed if it works for emergency. why the hospital doesn't keep enough blood with them, instead of asking for it to be delivered each time they need it? wouldn't be drones a good solution for them?

Vital work. I wish the hospitals wouldn't tell the drivers that the patient died just before they arrived. It must hurt the drivers to feel like they failed. They may take risks on the road that leads to their own death.

I have a doubt ✋ Why don't they pre-order the blood and make it available for the patients, who are nearing their labour rather than in the nick of time, as I can see the "Blood" is risking his life. If the c-section was a success without the need of blood, they can return for payback except for the service charges or use it for another patient of same blood group?

Just a reminder that the money google could have donated to make the situation better would have done much more good than the good the creation of this video will do. Not saying google should donate tons of money to fix this problem, just that the money they dedicated to showing off that google maps is better than apple maps could be better used by lifeblood.
