@@TrueOpinion99 Not a lot of firearms instructors have his level of knowledge gained from both military and civilian. He was a Marine Corps firearms instructor, won both civilian and military marksmanship competitions, and was unfortunate enough to have experienced self defense shootings and the court battles that follow. On top of all his medals and trophies and lifetime experiences, he stood before the camera and said that he is in no way telling the viewer what to do, that what he was sharing was based on his lived experiences, training, and understanding, and he oft repeated that he made no claim to the mind of greatness, which many would disagree. A man with that kind of background and humility is a man that I trust. There was no larping, fluff, or theater with his videos, just straight forward instructions and firearms experiments with a touch of his own dry humor and flare. I get wary of a lot of Gun Tubers who want to hold themselves up as an objective standard for what everyone else ought to be doing. That's also why I like Blue Jean Operator. So, when I say Paul was the Gold Standard, at least for me, I'm just saying this is the kind of instructor I trust. Real world experience with a humble attitude. You can disagree. That's fine. I think the big mag sticking out the bottom and the "evil military laser holographic red dot" set off alarm bells in normies as well. Disagree. I'm from a European country that has received refugees from all over. Sri Lanka. Balkan. Afghanistan. Iraq. Syria. Somalia. Eritrea. Ukraine.... Not one of them was armed. And I tell you why... even in a SHTF situation there will be armed, organized groups. Were talking company size elements (100 to 250). There will be roadblocks. Checkpoints. Overwatch (snipers). Reinforcements/QRF. You may slip through as a civilian but being overtly armed turns yiu into an instant target and you will be killed sooner or later. 100%. Thinking you'll shoot your way out of anything is delusional. You may keep looters away from your house but that's about the extent of your capability. You and your 5 buddies aren't doing anything significant. Keep in mind... much of the world has been in trouble at one point or another, but never all places at once. Getting out of dodge quick or in fact, before shtf is the most underrated tactic of all.

Nothing about this funiture is especially usefull and you could archieve the same level of "concealment" if you use a brown rattlecan. Also if you really want to make it look more like a hunting gun, you would probably spray paint handguard, lower and stock brown and use a scope as well as a short 3 round magazin that does not stick out. Also using a different non adjustable stock might help more than this little wood decoration that he showed off here. But than again its just an add with maybe 1-2 "valid" points thrown in there.

If not available, AR10 with a 20 or 30 round mag better than 5.56 against those big animals. If doing the .308/7.62 NATO, I would choose the FAL or PTR91/actual H&K original. My old FAL was fitted with a scope mount and scope that also did not block a clear view on my iron sights for close engagement scenarios. I'm not concerned about anyone deciding to engage because of a 30 rd mag or more. Honestly, I think a bigger mag might make a maroooon think twice as compared to sticking a 5 rd mag on a rifle that is clearly the type capable of taking 20, 30, 42, 60 rd mags or drums. Instead of wood AR furniture, a mix of different colored furniture parts, home made spray painting, camo netting and fabric/clothe will do a lot to disguise what you're carrying. Better to move in small groups, especially multiple teams than let a bozo or few engage for anything. Some low tech comms and predetermined ROE, training, and flexibility to change anything might out maneuver anything but professionals. Let's hope we tend to come together more than crash heads, atleast with other Americans, allies, cultural, religious, similar types and join against our collective enemies and pray they don't blend in.

Most of the guys in my deer hunting group are old traditionalists. They like wood and steel and are apprehensive about ARs as a hunting rifle. I built a 450 bushmaster with Woox furniture and they seem to like it. My father's cousin, who's not familiar with the AR-15 was surprised when I told him what my rifle was. I chose Woox just because I liked how it looked, but I do think that it takes the "scariness" away for those whose only knowledge of the AR are the lies told to them by the news media.

A 30 round mag also looks a lot less friendly than a 10 rounder. I think that’s part of the reason semi automatic rifles are “scary”

Mini 14 with the full wood stock and a Aimpoint style red dot (nothing blocky), to regular people it's a small hunting rifle with a little scope. Low pro black plate carrier without molle, spare mags on a battle belt.

The ruger mini 14 is another great choice for a low viz, non-scary type of rifle.

Low vis mini14 you say... have you ever owned a mini14? Or done anything low vis? 😂
@CharlesMartelsHammer2 ай бұрын
@ by low viz i was implying that its not scary looking, and therefore doesnt stand out vs an ar or ak platform.

I live in a very anti-gun state with an AW ban, and I have an old Norinco SKS for exactly this reason. It's got a "non-detachable" internal magazine which exempts it from the AW restrictions, and without the bayonet the average person who doesn't know guns can't tell it apart from a bolt-action hunting rifle. In a SHTF scenario, swapping the internal magazine for a detachable one is simple (not that I would know Mr Fed who reads all my posts). It was also dirt cheap and I'm a poor, so there's that.

M1 carbine with the paratrooper folding stock. Exceptionally light weight, easy to carry lots of mags with a small to medium satchel. When folded it mostly conceals in a backpack (barrels might poke out top or bottom depending on the bag)
@brianzimmerman48372 ай бұрын
Pairing up that bag with a bail out bag or standard bandolier may be an interesting option.

Best load out for this imo? A wood stock mini 14 with an optic and light hung on an ultimak. Would fit right in from even 5 ft away and be a valid weapon with a common rd

The list of guns I'd stash in a PVC pipe for SHTF changes all the time (depending on my mood and what I'm thinking lately) would presently include an M&P-15 AR, a Ruger 10/22, a Mosin-Nagant M44, and a Chinese SKS. I figure if I'm going to stash them for an emergency, I want ones that I could bury and forget about, not ones I'd want to take to the range or have available for home protection or whatever.
