It is so crazy hearing all the stories of teachers denying little children from using the washroom! Is this a common practice in the US? In Canada I cannot ever remember being told no until maybe High School. Like the only requirement for going to the bathroom was asking. You never asked for permission, instead you asked the teacher if someone else was already gone. (That was a rule in high school. Only one student out at a time, regardless of gender.). The most a teacher could ever actually do is temporarily deny you. Maybe while a lesson is just starting, or if I said someone else is out. But if you ask them like a second or third time, they would let you go anyway. In high school you didn't even have to ask actually, because we started using a sign out sheet for covid reasons I think, and that was how you knew if you could go, or if someone else else was out. I don't remember my elementary school days as well of course, but I only remember asking the teacher, then immediately being told yes. I cannot ever think of any of my elementary school teachers straight up making an 8 year old hold it, lol. I'm curious to hear about people's experiences with this in American public schools. I already know your system is very different to Canada. (Like we don't have school cafeterias here until High School. Up till then you bring your own food, and eat in your desk. That's just one example.)
@joshuablair2522 жыл бұрын
Yes it’s extremely common. Especially to little kids. It’s because kids and teenagers always end up spending way too much time not being in the classroom and skipping a lot of time. But it’s always the same loser kids that are ghetto or just always being disruptive. It still doesn’t make it right. If you got up and left without their permission and if they said no and you went anyway; they would make a big deal out of it. It’s always the teachers that are on a power trip. The cool ones let you go whenever. But because once a year some kid would absolutely destroy the bathroom and or write down bomb threats and cause thousands of dollars in damage to the bathrooms. But they would collectively punish the classes, which is fuckd up. I don’t know but I remember laughing at these teachers who would cry their eyes out because the kids were bad but it’s usually because the teachers were assholes. I am 26 and still feel no sympathy towards these teachers. It all stems from home and the exact reason why kids get so out of control is because they are not being punished at home. You can’t even spank your kids without Child protective services taking the kids away. You can’t even be a parent anymore. How is a kid supposed to learn respect without the use of intimidation? It’s impossible. Some kids don’t ever think about their own actions and some kids absolutely need to be hit every once in a while, because no one else will. You can’t even stand up to bullies at school and beat the shit out of them (the same kids that need a spanking) without getting kicked out of school or suspended. I have no sympathy towards these teachers because most of them are the ones that see the bullying and do nothing about it, until a kid snaps and does something righteous about it.
@CosmicBob112 жыл бұрын
@@joshuablair252 Yeah, I feel you on the entitled kids thing. I'm only just barely an adult now, but even I see teens and people only a few years younger than me that cleary were not parented as a child. I will say however, that good parents shouldn't ever resort to pure violence and spankings to teach there kids. Now that doesn't mean they can't THREATEN to do it. And maybe even once or twice to get the message across. But I would still say that if you have to do it again and again, or god forbid you know use a belt or something awful like that, then that is too far for sure. I will also say on a separate note that kids should 100% be able to kick the shit out of their bullies. I cannot tell you how many times as a kid I ended up getting in trouble for talking back, or the rare time standing up physically to my bullies (I was bullied a lot when I was younger), and it was always so incredibly aggravating to me that it seemed the school didn't care. Luckily, my dad told me when I was young if I ever got in an altercation, and I got in a fistfight with someone who was bullying me, he would never ever be upset with me for it, regardless of what the school said. To me it's like Hockey (I know, Canadian making hockey analogy, haha) you do something dirty and intentionally nasty to a player, and then the other team has license to beat the crap out of you one on one. This should be how bullying is dealt with (within reason). If you see someone picking on a defenceless kid, you should be able to step in and kick their ass, and not be penalized for it. I don't know how I got into this convo, got basically TLDR: I agree for the most part. Kids are much more entitled these days it seems, and there is never any threat whatsoever to them. We (I say we as I'm still young remember, lol) are all taught at a young age that there are never any serious consequences to our actions, because there will always be the school preventing any justice from being dealt.
