I'm mounting a partridge and a wood duck this winter and I was wondering if it is easier for your first bird to be standing or flying?

I would never recommend any waterfowl for to start,, they will disappoint you. Partridge is better, or even if you can get your hands on a pheasant that would be even better. Standing is better to start.

Your videos helped me a lot with my taxidermy process! Might I ask how you painted the feet? I managed the beak but the feet are giving me a little bit of trouble to get right.

I’m glad you are finding the clips helpful. I use to use a lot of airbrush and while airbrush is still one of the best but I have changed most of my painting to light brush and panpastel. I have filmed a couple of examples. I make sure to edit them and upload.

Great work as always...May I ask what gauge wire you used for the legs and wings? The wire looks black in colour..is it annealed not galvanised? Thanks for your help.
@ArtofTaxidermy3 жыл бұрын
Sorry I’m going to have to look that up since I don’t know for sure ... I don’t work with gauge numbers when choosing my wires, I have to feel and see them to decide if they can be used for my mount. But I ll let you know. Will get back to you.

@@ArtofTaxidermy Thank you so much for answering my question. I look forward to you're next video. They have helped me so much. I'm hoping you'll mount the black duck soon. It was such an informative video of skinning and wire wheeling. 👍🏻

@@andystott9826 No problem Andy.. Im glad it helped.. the wire I use is never galvanized, they are too hard to bend and have a springiness to them... I always use anealed wire and if I couldnt find the right gauge I get galvanized but burn it before I use it, ( i have a video in this regard under tips playlist).. the black duck is mounted and is drying.. I will get to it for editing and uploading, in due time.
