Discovered these guys less than a week ago and I am absolutely blown to bits over how tight these guys are! Sure they have taken inspiration from some of the greats - Phish, Moe, the Biscuits and Umphrey’s, but these guys are the real 100% deal. Will def seek them out as I live in the Nutmeg state! The problem with most of the bands you listed are as follows: (1) that they put writing a great song 2nd or 3rd on their list of requirements; and (2) they can't sing. Take Arcadia for example. That is a song that not a single one of the bands you listed could write, much less sing. I'm not sure I've seen a jamband quite like this, with Type II jams, strong songs, and harmonies that aim to mirror that gauzy style of Bon Iver and Fleet Foxes.

These guys are putting out full, clean, arena size sound, jam band bliss and massive energy. They will be larger than life. If Dave Mathews exploded and continued to have never ending growth and popularity, then Goose, while a different genre, will do the equivalent. There's another band that did well, and kept it in the pocket... those Vermont guys, phish. Goose.... right on. This Album is historic.

“All I need” is a little more live GOOSE! Damn shame that the pandemic showed up when it did bc these guys were really starting to hit their first peak as a band. God damn the goose is loose! Makes me want a Phish Biscuit w/ Cheese! I hear so many homages to the greats throughout this set, the Little Betty Boop Biscuits type jam in All I Need @ 1:02:10 is so sick! And the Sector 9 jam in Hot Tea, which totally reminds me of SCI. This is always what I hoped the Magic Beans would turn sound like but they never were able to perform at this caliber. This is honesty an amazing fusion of an old like 96-98 Phish show crossed with a 2010 Biscuits run where they were crushing full sets without playing. In this video you can literally hear him switch between Trey and Barbers styles, same with Brownstien and Gordon on the bass. in 2021 you all and Spaff should run a fest, 6 sets of goose. 6 sets of Safford. Gooford Fest Saffoose? Spaoose Fest?

Goose seems to cater to the younger hipster jamband demographic of the Northeast and beyond. They are from CT and I think they provide a more "contemporary" perhaps nearly "metropolitan" alternative to the wooked-out throwback fanbase of Twiddle further north at the top of VT. They are poising themselves to gain a lot of fans who want to feel like they are getting in at the start of something. Ultimately, I actually find Twiddle to be the more interesting band, at least they make me feel something (sometimes disgust, revulsion). Goose seems to be a little too smooth for their own good. It's all very slick but it never truly bubbles over and steals your face. I think Twiddle is fucking kids minds down there in the pit...maybe I'm wrong. Feel free to disagree with me.

Possum: I grew up 30 miles from where Twiddle got started at Castleton State College. A good band. Mihali has a big soul; keep in mind he's from New Jersey. I was at Woodstock '69 and saw the Dead, Allmans (original band), the Who, and many other classic acts. (So no kid here-68 years old.) Goose is the real deal. Plenty of soul and spirit; superb musicians. Tight and loose. What you take for slick I call precision--on the other end, they do raise the roof. If you haven't seen them, do. If you have and aren't tasting anything special, that's fine too. Stay safe.
