It sort of exploded out of the venue, crowd, context. They're in a big old gutted brick early 20th century industrial barn just over on the wrong side of the proverbial tracks. Since it was the first time I was there I didn't notice going in the incredible concentration of high powered industrial electric cables, towers etc. going into the back of the building but probably right over where the back stage/dressing area was. Rock down to electric avenue. That's my take but I was pretty electric me self.

Ok Everyone. Just started hearing Goose now. Just how much of a Phish rip-off are they?

They are much different I think. Definitely Phish inspired, but in the world of jam bands that's like saying "Beatles inspired" - basically all rock and roll was Beatles inspired in some way. Phish and The Grateful Dead are such massive influences in the jam band world, that anything since then might seem derivative. So rip-off I'd say they are as much a Phish rip-off as Phish is a Dead rip-off (which I dont think is that much). Phish sounds more Zappa inspired to me. That being said there is a hilarious meme floating around in the Phish forums; "The torch is being passed to goose". That sentitment seems to enrage Phish die-hards and Goose haters alike. In the jamband yearbook I would have voted this band least likely to cause such controversy, so I find it kind of hilarious.

They are definitely phish inspired. Personally I think they’re better. They’ve only been around for like 6-7 years and have a huge catalog of amazing songs. The light show is equally as good as phish. I think they are just better at longer jams they know when to switch it up and when to keep it in the spot. Rick definitely has his own unique guitar sounds. He can make his guitar sound like a violin or a steel drum, it’s fuckin crazy. Peter is also world class at all the crazy shit he does. Truly the best band out there.

Whoever they were/are , I really appreciated the help. I was back on my feet so quickly, that I was not sure what had happened.
