Apparently according to Wikipedia, the first Mongol invasion pretty much began on Tsushima, then Iki Island, then they arrived in Hakata Bay. Hakata Bay is also part of the mainlands. The following day resulted in the Battle of Bun’ei aka the First Battle of Hakata Bay. According to a record, the grandson of a Japanese commander shot an arrow to announce the beginning of battle and it resulted in the Mongols bursting out laughing. The battle was bloody and Japanese forces retreated. They we’re going to make a last stand at Mizuki but the Mongol attack never came, one of the Mongol commanders was apparently shot in the face with an arrow by a retreating samurai. They were going to keep advancing but they were concerned about their soldiers being too exhausted and the fear of being ambushed at night so they retreated back to their ships. Supposedly by morning...most of the Mongol ships disappeared. A Japanese courier stated in his diary that a sudden reverse wind from the East blew back the Mongol fleet, “a great storm arose and many warships were dashed on the rocks and destroyed”. A few ships were beached and some 50 Mongol soldiers were captured and executed. Around 200 ships were lost and 13,500 out of the 30,000 Mongol invasion force did not return. I’m very interested and curious to see how they’re going to do this if they go with another DLC which I hope is something that they follow through with. There was also a Second Mongol Invasion of Japan that also began on Tsushima. I’m excited to see what they’ll do for a sequel.

One thing to note is that it works kinda well with an assassin build based around assassinations, since the chain attacks drain the enemys posture, so if you already dedicate yourself to the 30% bonus damage and 50% stagger damage, once you land the chain hits, you can finish off an oni once you disappear

I use this build and I love it..you can be interrupted but most of the time the intimidation counter stuns the other enemies out of three hits i always get at least one and it's just a fun build for me i wanna actually fight and not just button mash thru the whole game

Ive been running a similar build with bottle of liquid courage and heavenly strike tech for some extra oomph. Lots of fun to play solo but my problem with this build is that it relies on waiting and baiting attacks so you can parry but playing with randos they always just rush and spam melee or bombs or whatever. Also in later waves of survival when most of the enemies are oni or tengu, there are very few attacks that can be parried

Finally got and fully upgraded the katana for the samurai. All the scrutiny or cons mentioned are indeed right, still a fun katana though. I find the sarugamis glare more useful and faster at dispatching crowds or onis combined with the moon cancel tech. I practice dodging and perfect parrying without perks though at lethal plus on single player so perfect parry and dodge on legends gets very easy and almost second nature. This sword though combined with the glare on nightmare story and single player rivals is so fun and op.

I don’t know if it’s just me but when I go back to using the other katanas epic or legendary katanas my timing seems off. Might make sense for rivals, but survival is such a shitshow with everyone rushing and trying to steal your kills, that you often don't have time at all to wait for the enemy to attack, you have to go right at them, or else your team members will kill them before you get the chance.

Got my first game after the update and played with it for a bit. The problem is that when your playing with other people the non oni are constantly getting hit so they don’t attack, and the oni only throw out unblockables.

I've had good success just farming gold story 1 back to back. Every 2-3 completions I got a cursed item.

The drop rate is random. Completely. You need to be on gold or higher but Ive played around 20 rivals games on both gold and NM. I have only gotten 2 curse pieces meanwhile my friend who has played the same amount has 15. Its kinda fucking stupid

hey gooshy, for another samurai build, a pretty op one is the dance of wrath. Water katana with water master and way of the flame (or burning blade possibly but I haven't tried it, seems like it could be good tho), forbidden medicine with samurai unlock and black powder bombs, samurai charm with blessed strikes, sticky bomb, (or if running 2 legendaries, spirit kunai could be pretty good), and then healing gourd. Lemme know what you think if you test it out, its basically just a fire samurai build

Not even possible, you can’t bound forbidden medicine to samurai so you will never be able to unlock second perk to have both samurai unlock and black powder bombs

I prefer the perfect dodge over the perfect parry when using sarugami. It’s weird. It’s like, regular perfect parry does more damage than sarugami perfect parry. Sadly the blade does not give the sarugami dodge attack which boosted the effectiveness of the perfect dodge over the perfect power by a lot. It was AoE and safe.

Lemme throw it out there for the people that dont already know, there is a legendary gourd that fills 1-3 resolve on use, and you use this in tangent with spirit kunai to drop the cooldown when you get kills with the kunai. What this basically means is that you are ulting every 30 seconds, and sometimes can ult twice in a row if you get lucky and get 3 resolve (class irrelevant but personally like it for samurai)

Although rivals is pretty quick it sucks if you lose. I would stick to severed heart gold runs or Raid chapter 1 as it doesn't require a coordinated team ( playing with randoms).

If you wanna go for 300+ kill survival matches, or rivals (I literally won a rivals matchmade with my samurai against two assassins in a 1v2 an hour ago) you gotta play aggressive. Building for parries doesn't do a good job, you gotta use everything to attack first, and kill your enemies as quickly as possible, with kunais and the new flame katana with blessed strikes. The best katana by far is the one with the 20% chance of double damage (I think it's yoshitsunes hand)

@@wesleysmallwood413 masamunes with meele ult water stance and way of the flame, the bow doesnt matter, samurai charm with meele ult blessed strikes and 25% fire, kunai with meele cooldown on kill throw 5 kunais with fire (dont know If super massive is better than fired UP) and bottle of líquido courage with both cooldown. Also the New fire ability, 2 legendaries, 1 more resolve and the 5 hits. Its really Op, having a blast with this build

@@SoulsVeteran420 Yeah I use the same techniques. The only thing different about our builds is the kunai and the samurai charm. I'm using super massive on the kunai, but fired up might be better. I have yet to earn a cursed charm, so mine isn't complete. I'll probably use fire master and rising tempo instead of blessed strikes. Rising tempo is very strong if you can avoid taking damage.

@@GooshyG I got a half bow called Sugaru's Sight that lets you fire three arrows at once if you have the ammo. It only works with basic ammo, but it ensures headshots just like the charm you get on Iki Island. Man do I want that Sarugami sword though.

@@DiZtheJedi Keep in mind bows can roll Versatile (lets any class use it). Roll headshot refund for perk 1 and that for perk 2. You can be a hybrid hunter I think with every class now. And I think Skipping Stone Bow would be the same. These 2nd perk slots can help us make hybrids.

I think masters katana is cool but is definitely not the best. Water katana works well against any enemy except spearman. You really don’t need stone and moon stance. Masamunes edge with water stance perk is better than masters katana for sure

Stone Master Katanas have the highest dps. It's as high as Moon Master cancels. I would either go with Stone Stance or Water Stance (purple or Masamune). Master's Katana is a waste of a legendary slot.

If you make your initial perfect parry counterattack against a standard enemy, and then land the two extra attacks on an oni, you will drop the health of that oni by at least half (standard oni spearmen and brutes, not purple or white-haired) and get a total guard break, leaving them vulnerable to be finished off with standard attacks. Definitely not useless.

Run resolve gain with it and use the technique that lets you use 1 resolve to gain ammo back. It’s god tier then and it’s auto lock headshots. Pretty much constant mini ults and you never run out of ammo

@@GooshyG Because there is not a lot of parrying going on in NM or the raid to benefit from it. You might get 10 parrys on NM. By the time you get one Parry, I wouldve already killed 2 other enemies. Plus you will probably be low on health a lot getting hit by arrows or oni while trying to stand there waiting to parry.

I get what you’re saying. Might best for survival when you need to stay alive. Def not best for rivals as it requires a highly offensive play style. It does take knowledge of what enemies throw out the most parryable attacks and aggro them specifically. Removes downtown of waiting. But thanks for your input. 🙏

Well they never went to mainland, so that would be 100% fantasy
