Harris badly needs better material on economic issues, e.g., the price of eggs, gas, rent and prescription drugs. Talking about growing up middle class is a waste of precious airtime. Trump's tariffs will certainly increase the cost of consumer goods. That point should be made endlessly. Allowing Medicare to negotiate drug prices is potent. Pound on that as success and extending it beyond Medicare as a plan for the future. Best to admit reducing retail prices short term is not within a president's grasp. Neither is controlling gas prices. Stick with what you can do. Interest rates are coming down and will ease the pain a bit. But there is no substitute for increasing the housing supply--the kind that is needed where it is needed. The federal government can help there. First-time home buyer assistance is silliness. It does not bring down inflated prices and does not increase the supply.
