POSSIBLE SOLUTION: So I have watched every video on KZbin with no luck.. I follow the steps exactly and nothing! I have a hero 7 that wouldn’t turn on. Like I previously said I’ve done everything I could find online, I have 5 hero 7’s and this is the only one that wouldn’t turn on, I’ve tried other charging cables, I’ve tried switching batteries NOTHING!! BUT ITS FIXED! And here’s what I did, I removed the battery, removed the flash card, reinstalled the battery, (did not put the card back in) and plugged in the charging cable in my Apple 2a wall charger. 20min later I hit the mode button to see if it turns on and the sucker turned on! This hero 7 hasn’t worked in almost a year!! And now it’s as good as new. If you are experiencing the same problem and the 10 second button hold doesn’t work try what I did!!

I was literally convinced that mine was totally shit and never gonna work again I kid you not it's been a really long time at the very least five or six months after trying so many different things the one most silly thing I didn't do but did today while in the commons looking at my GoPro I took an SD card out from my fat shark HDO2's and threw it in the GoPro after everything else I tried. The power popped right on. so in short, the GoPro hero seven black will not power on or respond in any way, shape or form unless you have an SD card in and I mean literally anything you try will not work and absolutely must have an SD card in it for it to even charge or turn on regardless if you have a battery or not hope this helps somebody out there.

Hi! I have the same bug with my new Gopro 8. The long press of power button for 10 secs helps. So, what do you think if it`s a software problem or a hardware problem? If I want to change it at my local shop where I bought it I have to demonstrate the issue but I`m not 100% sure I will be able to do it, because the bug happens not very often. I also contacted Gopro support team and they said they don`t know the problem and suggested to send me a new battery for free, because they assumed the one and only problem was the battery. So, I`ve got the additional battery. And what do you think, will the new firmware solve this bug? thank you

I think it’s a software problem. I don’t think that GoPro will fix this issue, hopefully I’m wrong... But let me tell you this, I just got a new 128GB micro SD card for my GoPro. And for some reason when I use this micro SD card I don’t have any freezing problems. Yet..

@@Romafedorov I have Sandisc Extreme U3 128Gb micro sd card. The bug persists. Would think about buying Samsung evo for an experiment, maybe the reason is memory cards???

Sorry man but I realized now why my GoPro was working without any issues with the new micro SD card. It wasn’t because of the micro SD card, but because by accident I forgot to turn on the Hypersmooth stabilization. It seems like the Hypersmooth stabilization messes up with the GoPro software. So in that case we just need to wait for GoPro to fix it somehow.
@79gert4 жыл бұрын
@@Romafedorov in gopro 8 there are 3 kinds of stabilization: just On, High, Boost. And the mode with hypersmoth off.

I have this issue on both my Hero8 and Hero9... The 10 seconds workaround works !!! THANKS !!! Is it really the HyperSmooth??? I have it on as it is the most important feature :-)
@Romafedorov4 жыл бұрын
It’s most likely HyperSmooth.. as soon as I turn it off the gopro works much smoother..
@reefscanner4 жыл бұрын
@@Romafedorov Maybe this is why they called it HyperSmooth :-)) Turn it off and the camera works smoother...

my gopro 7 silver doesn't have a removable battery
@SerbanTV23 күн бұрын
1. Disconnect the camera from any external power source and remove the SD card. If you are using a HERO7 Black, remove and reinsert the battery. 2. Press the User-added image [Mode Button] to see if the camera responds (look for LED illumination, beeps, or a response from the camera's screens). 3. If there's no response, attempt to reset the camera by pressing and holding the [Mode Button] for ten seconds. After releasing the button, leave the camera alone for five seconds and attempt to get a response from the camera by pressing the [Mode Button]. Note: This step is only for HERO7 Black; if you have HERO7 White or Silver, proceed to Step 5. 4. If still unable to get any sign of life from the camera, remove the battery and connect to a 5V/2A wall charger (5V/1A minimum) using the GoPro USB Type-C cable, let it sit for five seconds and try to turn the camera on (with the battery still removed). 5. If the camera does not turn on, try using a secondary USB Type-C cable. 6. If/when red LEDs illuminate, allow the camera to charge for a few minutes. 7. Remove the camera from the charging source and attempt to get a response from the camera by pressing the [Mode Button]. 8. If the camera turns on, turn the camera back off. 9. Insert the SD card, turn the camera on, and record a sample video. The above is from Go Pro support I tried everything but it seems like it's toasted, although I used it a couple of times. Talked to support, I have activated the Premium subscriptions which allows me to return the faulty camera and get a new one for 99$. I know, shitty value for money, I just used it a couple of times, it's out of 2 years warranty. This is the only solution feasible for me to start using the camera again.
