As you can clearly see, Adam waited for Cooper to get back by, then slowed down to give Cooper his gap back. Cooper needs to quit crying about it on the podium after the race.

I think the problem is this: If you go off the track that hard, you shouldn’t be able to just hop back on a seperate part of the track with the same gap as before. If I was Cooper, I would most definitely be pissed.

datfdsteeze yeeert the rule says you can’t gain an advantage, by waiting for Cooper to go back by, then basically coasting in first gear the rest of the way down the hill, Adam did not gain an advantage. Cooper has only himself to be mad at for falling and tossing away another win like he’s done for three weeks.

Made an excuse for his fall? Does that mean it was not a mistake, and he did it on purpose? I don't see anything but honesty and potential greatness from young Cooper, and he was probably the fastest guy (on the average) on the track all day long---including the 450's. If you kids need something to kick around, go get a stuffed punching dummy. Maybe you will get good at something in your life, and people will hate you for it. That is who you JC haters really are.

while i agree he probably should have done that, theres also huge risk involved. 1 being thats a rutted gnarly part of the track, trying to enter the track there is much more dangerous for the whole field of racers. 2 being its safest to cross those at 90 degrees to have least risk of getting the banner wrapped in a wheel or caught some how dragging it around the track which is also dangerous for the field of racers. I think AC should have slowed up even more than he did because its not like he kinda went off the track, he jumped way off and probably should have waited a bit more. Either way, rule states you cannot gain an advantage and he didnt so at the end of the day he didnt break any rules and did the safest thing.

AC should only be penalized if he gained a competitive advantage by going off the track during the race. Clearly, from this GoPro footage and what was seen on the broadcast, AC gained no advantage at all. In fact, it could be argued that almost eating shit, and being thrown out of your rhythm, and allowing JC to get an even bigger gap on himself after he re-entered the race course, he was at a major competitive disadvantage.

If we don't understand history when making/implementing suggestions, we tend to go around in circles. Not a huge deal with sports, but with politics, it can be deadly. What you suggest used to be the rule, but in many cases, you can end up a long ways from where you left the track, (and Adam would have here too), or it may be almost impossible to get back on the track there, (muddy uphill getting back on usually), and it might not be a very safe place to enter the track,----so they changed the rule, and it works fine until we have a solid banner we can see. All that is needed here is gaps in the banners so Adam did not have to actually cut the track. I like your wording, "unwillingly exited". That's good man. :)
@EarthSurferUSA
@EarthSurferUSA 5 жыл бұрын
@@bogilvie Yea, Cody is right. You don't want to run over a banner, especially going uphill. I see Adam looking several times for a gap in the banners. He had to jump a banner anyway because there still was no gap. Once a banner gets wrapped up in a wheel, it also melts on the brake rotor, and you lose your brakes.

Are the 450 guys getting slower? Because the top 7 250 guys, (some a rookie season), had a faster race than all the top 450 guys in both motos. Top 7 250 guys were running 2:10's all race long and probably would have pushed Eli and Ken to 8th and 9th if they were on the track together. Now RC and James on theri 125's would match the 250's quite a bit, than they shot right up to the top of the 250 class when they got there. That was greatness. But some of these guys are rookies, and 7 of them total? Something is wrong here with our sport. This is just not right, and I did not think it could even be possible. Very weird to have the small class faster than the big class.

Rookies going faster on a smaller bike. Hmm, I wonder if the reason is the tracks they are used to winning on as a amateur, are actually tougher tracks than these "national level" tracks. Yep. These tracks, compared to what they are used to racing on, are the 60 year old plus classes dream too, (I would find this track fun at my 55 year old age). Folks, when you have tracks that do not separate the talent, the talent will "regress to the means", (regress to the average) over time, and the 250 class racers have less time on these easy tracks. The top 7 250 guys, on their 250, in both motos, would have put Eli and Ken in 8th and 9th place on their 450's if they were in the same race. The math does not lie. The FIM is hurting our talent in the USA. Team USA will have a hard time finishing in the top 10 at the 2019 MXofN.

What if you were leading, and it happened 5 times the same way. Would you be 5 x the cry baby, or would you say, "that is the way racing is". Cooper does have something to complain about; when you mess up, you lose time. But Adam had no where to go to get back on the track, (as it is not a good idea to run over banners, gut sucked up in a wheel), because the banners did not have any gaps for Adam to get back on the track, eventually had to run over the banner anyway. There would be no issue at all if the banners had gaps, and Cooper might have won. After his crash, Adam would have caught up, (because he would have lost time if he got on the track on the same straight he left), and we might have seen one hell of a battle for the finish. Maybe we have something to complain about too? :) I would not expect the FIM to learn from this and make sure there are gaps in the banners,--so might might happen again.
