A panic move? What actually happened in the crash was: on that downhill right turn, all the preceding lines merge into 2 main ruts at the bottom. The lapped rider held his line, hoping for AC to go around the outside, but both their lines joined together, unfortunately. That turn has been that way for the past 15 years, and the track owners are too stupid to realize it. Even if a rider takes the far outside line on that turn, the dirt is drier and provides less traction, and, upon the exit, it too merges into the 2 main inside lines. It's basically a narrow "follow the leader" turn. This track offers little opportunity for passing nowadays. In the past, Red Bud was a favorite track of many top pros, but it's been chopped up and re-designed very poorly.

@@thefridaynetwork The track owner does not put the merging ruts/lines in the corners, the bikes do. Plus, I don't think the track owners own as much of the track as they used to own. I think the FIM is telling them what to do, (make them all sandy, for one thing), or they lose their date. This track used to scare the heck out of me in the 80's when it was clay. Now I am 56, and it looks like a fun vet track to me in comparison. They all do. This entire sport IMO, is a rotting shell of what it used to be, (when it was more free market, and less state control), and most of it's decline is the fault of the FIM.
