“It’s CHICKEN NIGHT! They don’t realize it’s CRAB NIGHT!
4 жыл бұрын
I love Bandon. So this is what’s going on in our crab pots. One time we were crabbing in Brookings and these people came to the docks with a bunch of salmon parts for bait. We told them that there were seals out there and that their crab pots weren’t seal proof and that they would loose their bait. They just gave us a dirty look and proceeded to set up and do some crabbing. It wasn’t even 3 minutes after they put their pots in the water that the seals were trashing their pots. They lost their bait and damn near lost one of their pots. We didn’t say anything but they got mad at us and left. What the hell? Eventually we all had a good laugh at their expense. People are weird.

I was hoping to see the part when the fishermen pull the cage out of the water. To bad it didn't happen 😢

Is the current the tide going in or out? Is the low pitch boing sound the noise seas make near shore? I lived for a year on the coast of the Sea of Japan on the east coast of South Korea about 100 yards from the beach and I'd often hear something like that in bed at night.

I love it! Chicken is like crack for these guys! I watched a video earlier that was asking which bait is better fish or chicken? I say chicken. These crabs can have fish anytime they want, when they're offered chicken, it's like a treat that they never get, so of course they're going to go crazy over chicken. It's not something they get offered normally.
@EazyeSAE3 жыл бұрын
Totally agree with the chicken. My family used to use salmon parts but they didn't work nearly as well. Oddly enough we found a turkey leg to be even better if you can get your hands on one for a reasonable price.

Next time leave the bait out in sun for a day or two then put it in the traps you will triple the catch every time because crabs smell the odor faster. I swear it works I’ve done it many times crabbing only the smell is terrible though but it does work faster

This was extremely satisfying to watch. It was intriguing to see them all go at the food with reckless abandon. I learned about the design and how it keeps them in. Very cool. Do crabs have the capability of regret? Do they realize they screwed up once they can’t get out?
