Cycling crashes are something else. At best you'll fall of your bike, stay on your feet and shrug it off, you'll go splat and get some scrapes and bruises. Maybe a broken/fractured bone. Or you're catapulted through the air.

For proffesials it is difficult to wear knee and elbow protection. They have to ride many kilometers and sit on their bikes for hours.It will only hinder the rider due to sweating and the friction that develops.For mountain bike downhill it is perfect for some minutes. I'm already glad they wear a helmet that has not been mandatory for so long.
