Ted Ligety already won a bronze at the FIS Alpine World Cup Tour hosted by Vail Beaver Creek 2015 and in a few minutes he'll line up to defend his Sochi gold medal in Men's Giant Slalom. Good luck, Ted! Full edit here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/ZpjSmI1siZamhrc

My speed record was 117 km/h on an empty piste and when i needed to break at that speed i couldn't walk for 2 weeks
@staszewaM3 жыл бұрын
@@LuffyL-ch1ku I know it's an old comment but...what do you mean? You couldn't walk for 2 weeks due to falling and injuring yourself? Or fatiguing? I used to do fair amount of alpine ski racing from 2009 to 2011 and went over that speed many times, breaking didn't feel that bad even on longer, sturdier, heavier and more difficult to turn Super-G skis.
@LuffyL-ch1ku3 жыл бұрын
@@staszewaM I had knee problems back then and when I tried to break a lot of shocks and weight fell on my knees. I could still walk but it was very troublesome anf had to do it with almost stretched knees.
@thefreedommovement2 жыл бұрын
The only way to win is to keep your knees strait on the turns. If one ski edge catches a divit or some soft snow, that’s when you get those nasty crashes. So it’s a lot of luck in the run conditions too. That’s why I always tried to go first… before the run got torn up.

I think it's to replicate the adrenaline rush and getting in "the zone" - when I'm locked in skiing downhill, it definitely feels like time slows and I'm one with my ski. I kinda like it

EXACTLY!!! Like I don’t mind the music as long as I can hear the skis, but I mean come on. It’s not a commercial.
@staszewaM3 жыл бұрын
@@barakbacharach9491 While it might be part of the reason, I think they were trying to show the occurance of zoning out due to extreme fatigue, since the blood from your head is going to your bigger, hardest working muscle parts (mostly legs), which happens on longer downhills, especially in Wengen- you can hear Bode Miller talk about it in the material about Lauberhorn- 'Lauberhorn: The Essence of Downhill Ski Racing | ISOS012'.

Stupid question? I race super g/dh but is that "blurry" a GoPro created effect after 2:30 or is that what Super Ted is seeing for real? I've never seen that but of course I am not Super Ted and he's likely in a dimension I haven't met if that is what he's seeing at 80mph plus. I would not doubt it b/c he and others on FIS DH/Super G level are not human. Loved this vid. Right on!

@goreddragon19 жыл бұрын
Duh, he's a ski racer, but why do you need 8 pairs of the exact same skis? I can understand having 3 pairs or something as back ups/practice sets, but bringing as many skis as he has with him everywhere has to be a pain in the ass.
@mochannel259 жыл бұрын
Grant Hilti I guess he has different skis for different disciplines and different conditions.
@TrendyDem9 жыл бұрын
Grant Hilti He's professional. He should fight for every second and millisecond during the race. Different models of skis are good for certain types of tracks. Also waxing (You saw the men doing this in the video with special iron) the skis is extremely important because each wax should be applied for certain condition of snow and weather, so he might have different types of wax on different skis to test and choose the best for the next competition.
@OrangeNerd19 жыл бұрын
Like thenguy above said for waxing, but also each one probably has a different angled edge, so depending whether its icy, or powdery, he'll choose which pair he wants.
@buster0729 жыл бұрын
That's just Product placement of HEAD. You only need one pair of great skis per discipline in my opinion.
