Yeah - but will it still be as glitchy / unreliable as the Hero 10? You can pack in new features, but if the camera randomly freezes or stops recording... it's pretty useless.

Sensor aspect ratio seems more square now, not sure the actual width of the sensor will be much bigger than before? Or whatever they mean by 8x7. If its the size of the active part of the sensor it means the diagonal is 10,63 mm, compared to a regular 1/2.3 sensor of 7.81 mm. Or whatever. Alas, also the IMX677 sensor in the Hero10 has 12 bit readout modes. But likely Gopro will never add that to the firmware.

Gotta admit I was hoping for a larger camera with built in audio interface and edge to edge rear screen. The specs sound pretty good, however, they had problems with overheating before, now with all the processing to make this work, I wonder what the recording times are going to be before overheating. Never by a gopro when it first comes out

Good news. Old sensor 4x3 you say? I was led to believe the 10 was 6.17 x 4.55mm, if so this new 8x 7mm is exactly twice the area.

So the ratio of a sensor that measures 6.17 x 4.55 is 4:3 (8:6) and when they say 8:7 I believed it was a ratio and only slightly larger but you have piqued my interest there.

There is a lot more to 10-bit vs 8-bit, and it seems highly unlikely this camera will see any benefit from a 10-bit mode for many, many technical reasons. Unless you are on a professional shoot there is literally no circumstance where you would need 10-bit in any case. Use a Gopro to shoot professionally much? This is a big, fat nothing burger feature for 99.99% of users. The rest of the Hero 11 feature updates known so far are so incremental you don't even know they are there. The big update here is with the mini. While not many people really need a smaller, lighter Hero, there are some perhaps niche cases where a smaller, lighter chassis makes sense.

Agreed. I love color grading my content and the 10-bit upgrade is nice but I could still live without it especially since I do shoot with my mirrorless camera as well.

Great review but man I’ll never buy another GoPro past 7. My 10 sucks bad in low light, focal distance, those high frame rates are junk… do a side by side of 120 fps and 30, it’s pointless to shoot past 30fps due to the fact anything higher you start losing quality immediately, 60 fps is the hardest to edit. The heating is an issue too, too many failures after many GoPros , the 7 was the best but I sell media, I’m not looking to make Hollywood movies 😂 seems GoPro uses a lot of smoke and mirrors to dazzle people who don’t know any better. I did enjoy your review tho. 🤘

Yes, it would be good if the bitrate was higher, but then people would have more memory card troubles most likely. I still love my 7 too, super reliable and great for the old Karma system (those that still work...) Thanks for stopping by.

@@peruemprende10 most of the content I sell is from my iPhone 12 and GoPro 7. They both have wins and losses , I use both all the time. As far as quality I leave that up to the buyers. Both will serve you well but the iPhone sucks less bad at low light.. two totally different systems tho.. it really comes down to editing at the end of the day.

As they are using the same Sandisk card they are limited to the same bitrate as the 10.

The sandisk extreme sd card can write up to 90MB/s which is much faster than 100Mb/s (MB = Megabytes, Mb =megabits)

Night modes and winter capability are going to be the thing I am looking for GP11 and DJI Action 3. Here in -28c GoPro 8 dies in under 10min.

I tested the enduro battery by placing it in my freezer in a previous video (I bought every accessory on gopro.com) and it really outperforms the standard battery by a lot! But to be fair I think that's only -18c

@@Rush-Media Yeah freezers are usually that cold, but here -28c + winds is quite a lot. Even on enduro battery page it says "Dramatically improves cold-weather performance in temperatures down to 14°F (-10°C)²" while DJI is boasting -20c on their Action 3 page. If Gopro promises -10c and DJI -20c, that is quite a difference. My as said before Hero 8 at -28c is like 5-8min before shutting down because its too cold (it used to fare better, but latest firmware's made it worse) and action 1 can run until the battery is empty, though it wont last as long as normal temps, still way longer than H8.

Not much of improving. I have 10bit colors on 3 year old mobile phone. Great marketing from GoPro as usual, but in reality lots of issues on every single camera. Still love them, but not that much that i will spend 500 eur every year. I will keep my GoPro 10 and i will upgrade with 13 maybe.

Trying to sell you a bunch of hype. Bigger sensor better low light cancelled by the more megapixels which is worse in low light. Same resolutions and yes 10 bit color in which the average user will never notice. They are selling a Hero 10 with an 11 on it. If gopro wanted they could give you firmware to make the 10 - 10 bit color because it is the same internals. Just my opinion but think about it before you go dropping 500 bucks.

10 bit isnt a major upgrade, people have color graded 8 bit and no problem. what matters is if theres noise, and the bigger sensor might help there. not the 10bit.
