I think the x3 is better for beginners personally. I have an X2 and a hero 10. Hero 10 footage requires going home and editing. X2 I edit having a beer after skiing and export. So much easier to edit so I think that’s why it wins for me.

Just an FYI to everyone looking at these cameras they are not the same camera each camera is way different than the other and they are both awesome cameras but they are both different the 360 is trying to be a little bit more GoPro the GoPro is trying to be a little bit more 360 if you know what I mean and my advice if you could afford it is to get both because both will do everything you want

Best review/comparison i’ve watched! i think you only forgot to mention one thing, the durability. GoPro is know and has proven it over the years. X3 on the other hand is a big pain especially if you want to use the camera more for outdoor sports!

Superb review and I agree mostly. However, I think the X3 is actually more beginner friendly, as you can reframe later. I have bought an X3 but am dissapointed with the overall image quality. Single lens also does not stand a chance against the Hero12. We don't even have to start comparing the LOG footage, as the X3 is 8bit only. As I will be doing lots of high quality car videos (@cartsince2022 😆) so I think the Hero12 is better for me as you also pointed out in this review. So anyone wanting to do high quality stuff, get the Hero12!

I buy a x3 and quality video is crap, Even my gopro 3+ is better in 1080p. The 4k of the x3 is not the quality of 4k. How we can say quality is OK for x3 ? The gap with gopro is so high….

The reason the selfie stick disappears on the 360 cam is NOT because the wide angle lenses overlap. Its because the selfie stick is hidden on the camera in between the lenses--it never shows up in the view of either lens. You can do the exact same thing on the GoPro if you point the lens away from the selfie stick.

You can still see everything other then the polex so that's not the case.....
