I'm really impressed by the footage I've managed to capture with the macro lens. It's really what elevates the Hero 13 above being just an evolutionary step over the Hero 12.

Brave considering that GoPro says the Macro Lens Mod isn’t made for underwater use. Footage looks good though. No damage to the camera or lens after the multiple dips?

If I turn the focus ring to the furthest focal length, does the macro lens attachment focus like the normal glass cover? I’m wondering whether I can get away with just carrying the macro lens alone while backpacking? Thanks?🙏🏼

Unfortunately it can't focus to infinity, essentially it ranges from macro to a distance suitable for portraits.

: So far... because of the flip up screen, the night mode and user interface, I like the Ace pro. But I am waiting for Ace pro 2, to be my first Action camera ( If they fix the minimum focus distance ). But, This gopro macro is just DOPE! 👏Great content. - I'm confused.

I'll certainly be interested to see what Insta360 has up its sleeve with the Ace Pro 2! The Macro lens for the Hero 13 is pretty cool, it's largely the reason my review of the camera was so positive. I'm also excited for the anamorphic lens mod that GoPro is launching next year. I just wish GoPro would update their sensor to improve low light performance!

Can the macro lens be left on all the time and get the same footage as the standard lens on the distance setting?

Unfortunately no, it can't focus past a portrait length distance.
