watching this in 2024. Just pulled out my hero 3 black and was trying to figure out how it compares today. I remember saving for this camera... it was quite amazing back in the day

I was able to purchase the Silver Hero 3 with sportsman mount and other accessories for exactly $66.06. Its all like new with original packaging. The mount still sells for 20 plus. Will see how the lack of stabilization will affect me, but I plan to have it mounted on my body. Congrats on reaching your 1k milestone.

Trust me, you want stabilization. When you put on one of these bad boys you it really shows how much we move our bodies when doing the most mundane things

the hero 3+ silver was PEAK gopro quality... it doesn't overheat, and works for hours and hours, and the footage is easily handled and rendered with davinci.

Nice vid. Congrats on 1k subs! Just picked up a hero 3 plus from a pawn shop but it has no accessories. Probably gonna try and use it for a dash cam or helmet cam.

I believe GoPro don’t support connectivity to the app for this camera anymore

cheap and easy solution when your on a motorcycle its something about motorcycles that are a magnet for idiot drivers they are either tailgating you expect you to drive 60mph in a 20 zone or they will pull out in front of you attach a cheap camera on the front and the back make sure its visible solves this issue it dont even have to be turned people wont know if its turned on or not but with that cameras being there and visible is enough to make people think twice before driving like idiots. i have none of these issues when driving my car i shouldnt have to stop a hobbie i enjoy because people cant drive safely.

There are a lot of tutorials online. Basically you have to download the latest firmware, put it on an SD-Card, which is named UPDATE, I think. During the download you can define the new Wi-Fi password. It should work, even with the latest firmware already installed.

can you use hypersmooth with hero 3 or similar app?

There is no inbuilt hyper smooth but you could use the stabilisation feature within editing software such as premiere pro. But this would crop the footage as well

well, a lot of ppl would totally disacgee. these days they sell like for 15-20€ on flea markets (i've got mine for 20e in mint cond with 32gb card ), it's totally worth it, you'll never get these prices a lot under it's value for gen--1 or gen-2 hardware. + who needs 4k that much if 90% of the time you'll watch video either on 6'" screen or just ONCE. it's much more practical than phone cuz it stands ony any flat surface. i'm using my hero 3+ 6 times per week filming myself playing table tennis, dont need anything better. and new battery sells for 8€ on ali.
