The biggest problem with being a forklift operator is not that we don't want to fallow each and every safety rule available. The problem is employers assuming we can follow them all while running you on as thin a line as possible. You can be the world's most perfect driver but over time if you keep making the road you gotta take more difficult them humanly possible then the safety ends up flying out the door a bit just so you can keep your job without being hastled by the employer for not meeting your quota. Fact is most employers want as much profit as they can squeeze with as little manpower as possible because they see more manpower as money wasted.
@Statimtek5 жыл бұрын
This true.However safety should always be first priority and simple things such as using your seat belt, looking when backing, driving with your forks as low as possible and driving in reverse with a load do not take any extra time and should always be on the drivers mind and applied when ever they get onto their P.I.T. Shortcuts such as speeding, not fully stopping at stop signs, airplaning ,distracted driving, using your horn, etc, come in to play with what you are saying, however working for a company that demands safety at all times makes for good habits at future jobs. If your boss notices dangerous habits you will be called on that too.Especially when it comes to accidents or near misses.Any company worth their salt will enforce safety, for their employees and protection of their product.Any driver worth their salt should be able to be fast and be safe.

Okay as a someone with a few years of experience driving reach, cb, bendi, and all sorts of trucks and attachments. I would say he can drive a counter balance, and he is fairly quick, but my biggest issue is right at the beginning of the vid, as he is speeding down the warehouse, not looking ahead for seconds, glance ahead, then looking away again. He does the same thing later reading the pick list speeding down the warehouse. Them gas trucks are quick, I've driven them... He pulls a bit of a dangerous joke on his reversing mate at 5:45... them are the main issues, I am surprised no one mentioned them...
@thatguy66382 жыл бұрын
Yup, immediately he shows that he drives dangerously. He could've easily killed someone stepping out from behind one of the rows. If I was a foreman I woulda sent him home and gave him a written warning. There's a poster in the main office in the mill I work at and it shows a tank in one photo and a forklift in the other. The caption says "These can kill you instantly. One is a Tank."

You dont turn with a raised load it causes stability issues. Didn't they teach you that in training? You did so many things wrong.

Darth Sidious, and knowing how to keep accidents to a minimum while still being efficient is even more of a skill. turning with a raised load increases chances of accidents. so.... its a dont do

Should be labeled how to cause an accident/death. No seat belt, no honking, no stopping at intersections, climbing off lift to talk to another operator. Hanging off lift. Lol
@tonyhenwood92806 жыл бұрын
this driver should be retested so many deadly mistakes everything from personal safety gear through operation of a fork lift this guy is a major hazard to many mistakes to mention thank go we have proper training in Australia but there is still a lot of cowboys out in the work place

@RazgulTheKind6 жыл бұрын
Agreed, same here in the UK. I saw mistakes as big as turning with raised forks and as small and improperly dismounting. The guy has some skill but I think his confidence has outgrown his capabilities. A refresher course is definitely needed. I've been driving a counterbalance for 3 years and I do make small mistakes here and there but if I was seen operating it like this video I would be fired immediatley.

if I follow the manuals so I will do half less work .. which is quite a fundamental problem .. errors are but no accidents ..
@tonyhenwood92806 жыл бұрын
what is more important safety or how much you get out the door if you cant go by the book more staff are needed or you have to find a job where you safely operate time to re think on where your priorities are I would be choosing safety first and you don't have to change much to be safe you can still do what you do now but be more aware there is things you can do to be safe about your operations

So im working as a forklift driver myself for a while. And i can say that how you are driving is really unsafe. You turn with the load high. You dont check behind you while driving backwards. No seatbelt. Not even the e brake. For your safety and others take your time and follow those rules. Your company rather has a clean record then one that says you hurt or killed someone because you failed to follow these basic rules.
