Awww! Sorry to hear that! I went through that. I honestly thought I would never laugh again. I ALWAYS LAUGH hard and over anything. It was scary because nothing made me laugh for a very long time. We had a female Rottweiler that we left 5 dog bones for on the floor of our trailor, while gone a few hours. When we came home Chaos was sitting in front of the bones drooling, but hadn't taken a single one. There was a pool of drool. We'd forgotten to say "okay you can eat them now". Chaos was a rescued dog and we think she was afraid she'd loose her new home with us. I hand fed her each bone with tears running down my cheeks. It broke my heart that she'd been wanting them for so long but wouldn't take one bone until we said it was okay. I swear she was the best dog we've ever had. I'm crying now just from the many great memories of her. We were blessed with her company for 8 years before she passed on from Cancer.. Cheryl If you have the opportunity, rescue a dog, they are forever grateful!!

Cheryl Ownbey that's an amazing story made me cry a little its good to know there's people out there who love their dogs as much as I love mine. And rescue dogs especially bully breeds or "dangerous" breeds are the best kept secret probably at least in part due to their gratitude. Animals have the capacity for so much more than we are willing to acknowledge or give them credit for. When I was born my parents already had two 1-year old Siberian huskies, so I grew up with them. Then we got a border collie. Then I had an Aussie, and today I have an 8 year old 100 pound blue nose pit, and he is by far the smartest, sweetest, most expressive dog I've ever met. His personality is so big and human like and he understands so much that sometimes I forgot he is a dog!

Why is the suffering of another being "humourous" on any level? This poor dog is clearly upset and feels abandoned by the pack. It doesn't mean that the dog is not "loved" most of the time. People are simply questioning why any of this is considered necessary in the first place.

Great to see that you are 'sensible and caring owners' Fully' aware of your dogs safety. So many owners do not ring-fence their swimming pools and do not realize that just because their dogs can swim......they forget that the dogs and cats etc, cannot lift themselves out as humans can. Also, if you do have a pool with steps, ensure that you put a heavy unmovable object ie large potted plant/ tree etc at that point so your dog, train your dog to leave the pool from this point) will realise that is the direction for them to swim to exit the pool....and not drown!!.

Our dog sleeps the entire time too. We almost always have food out as well but our dogs don't go near it unless it's in their food bowl which they know they can have, or unless we hand them treats or whatever. But we leave and come back and the dogs just be sleeping and nothing is moved or touched.

People are complaining because if the owners took anytime to look up dog information, they would know that dogs do not remember what it is you are talking about when you scold them. They look like they did something wrong simply because they do know that you are upset with them. They don’t, however, know why (unless you catch them in the act). All scolding after the fact does is scare and confuse them often times causing them to act out even more as they feel that they do not know how to please the owner.
