Nice info and very helpful. I’ve got 2 questions from it: 1. Did you have to convert the GPR files into another format to use in Final Cut? 2. Why do you set the duration of each pic to 2 frames instead of 1 frame? Very helpful overall 👌
@MrBlackReviews3 жыл бұрын
Hi. Thanks so much for the comment. I actually didn’t have to convert the files at all. It went straight into fcp like I did in the video. I picked 2 frames because it seems to flow a little better than 1 frame, but you are welcome to try it if you think the result is better :)

How long do you have to shoot to capture the movement of the stars? I'm not referring to star trails but showing the rotation of the earth?
@AmorsAverageAdventures2 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure if you're still looking for an answer, but it would depend on how long you would want your final video to be. If you want it to be maybe just a few seconds, like around 5-10 seconds of video, you'd wanna shoot maybe around 60 minutes of photos. If you want it to be a longer video, like say 30 seconds to maybe a couple minutes you'd have to shoot at LEAST 4-5 HOURS of photo. And also it depends on how many photos per second you'd have it set to. If you're gonna be capturing photos for a few hours, you'd want to have your GoPro connected to power with an actual cable plugged into an outlet or maybe power bank, otherwise the battery would die before you'd get a decent length of video. I hope this was helpful.

If there is too much light pollution especially in city, can I use a ND filter and will the camera still capture good ??
@MrBlackReviews3 жыл бұрын
That’s a good question. I never thought to try that, I would just also try lowering the shutter speed
@bigfellavideography2 жыл бұрын
while I can't find anything definitive in a search, an ND filter (no matter the grade, ie. 2/4/8/16, etc.) will always be like your gopro wearing sunglasses. think of what it's like to wear sunglasses at night. it'll very likely kill the light pollution, but also the subject matter (the sky/stars) as well. I've heard of people having success actually removing the lens altogether and just capturing with the gopro's 'eye' instead. pros and cons to that method - pro is you'll have less blocking your view to a pure shot and more light, but con is that there's less in the way to protect the insides of the camera, ie. incidental lens damage. 15sec lapse would do good for moderate light pollution, and give your image some foreground texture and detail.

How long does it typically take to get these shots? I sey my gopro 9 on these exact settings and waited about 30 to and hour and only got one second of video. It was really frustrating, i tried both video and photo formats as well. Not sure why its only uploading a second? Maybe it needs to be left on for at least 5 hours?
@jopeters2 жыл бұрын
It SHOULD be basic math. If you are doing a time lapse you need to consider how many FPS you want the final product to be. If you are targeting 24 FPS, then that means you need 24 images to create 1 second of smooth time lapse footage. If you have the camera set to capture an image every 30 seconds, and then only let it run for 30 minutes, that's going to give you 60 images, which will only give you 2 seconds of footage.
