Thanks Josh. I only use the wind slayer when filming myself whilst walking around . The external mic set up works fine for me on my hero 7, but the trick is to get that mic up inside the helmet well away from wind and have a chin curtain as well. I also wrap my mic in an old cut up wind slayer covering the existing mic foam cover. I find it works well and you don't restrict the audio... If you still get crackle noise in the audio, check the Mic adapter..... I've had one fail..... hope this helps someone

Dead cat and tuck (mostly) behind cheek pad works for me 🙏 But yeah those Wind Slayers do a great job for the walking and talking, for sure ✌ Cheers

Thanks Josh that was cool to see the difference, I use the wind slayer on my GoPro 7 black only because I couldn’t get an external mic to stop the wind like you do, tried 3 different types and it also made the GoPro unreliable to turn on and off with the external mic connected and did my head in so I just went with average audio but reliable on off operations but when jacqui and I get to gimpie I’m going to 🤞get you to sort me out because you audio is awesome 🤙😎

Shit that's not bad mate I thought you were running a proper mic. Not much I can do to make the GoPro reliable Pauly, short of strapping a power bank to ya helmet like I do 😅
@HISWSMARINE8 ай бұрын
No comparison ... the Media Mod two sided mic is the decision maker for me - just order it! Your windslayer video sounds like my go pro 12 with no wind protection.

Been using a wind slayer on a Hero 8 for at least a year now. It's great for outdoors stuff like my archery vids, but no chance on the bike, although using it rear facing and placed behind you you can get a fair result, I mean, for the money it does not bad really. External mic all the way for on the bike though. Shame about your sunglasses, I dropped my spectacles in the sea yesterday when out on the 390 adventure (ooops!)

Oh shit, losing ya prescriptions can get costly! Thankfully I only buy cheap sunnies cause I'm forever losing and breaking them but it's still annoying cause it's so hard to find ones I like and that fit my weird face properly hahaha. Thanks for the comment mate 🍻

@@MVDBR I went for a paddle and rescued them, cos the water was super calm and sort of mudflats underneath. Now the question is do I fit some cable tie system to the specs so I dont do that sort of daft thing again. Touratech prob do something 🤣🤣🤣

What mic solution are you using with the Osmo Josh....out of interest?
@MVDBR2 жыл бұрын
Was using the inbuilt mics in this vid mate but in Nat's helmet currently using a cheap lav mic with an inline volume adjuster set to max (like this one ebay.us/p2ZEBQ ) previously was running the Drift mic which worked just as well (from Camzilla www.camzilla.com.au/drift-ghost-external-microphone ) no need for the volume adjuster with the Drift mic, but man that Osmo audio is pretty ordinary no matter how ya look at it 😭

Hmmmm when I was riding never really bothered with anything but I did use some foam around the mic bit on the gopro. The 360 gopro I used was gtg but don’t ride anymore. Great vid and is interesting as what I would do if I went back into bikes. Cheers Josh

Did you try the wind slayer with wind reduction on? I bought a insta 360 rs, and it's a mess with the wind, in they're web site they in the features of the camera they put an audio with wind reduction on and off, and it's a total BS compared to real use... still don't know if i sent it back, they are stalling me with the support...
@MVDBR2 жыл бұрын
No I didn't bother trying it with the wind reduction on, probably should have but I doubt it would have made things much better. Yeah I have seen people trying to use those Insta 360s for motorcycling, the audio is a write off. Better off as a secondary video-only camera and sync with audio from a GoPro or whatever with external mic 🤷♂

It is def a viable alternative to the Media Mod for those not wanting an external mic in their helmet.... and a wedge cheaper. Still an utter faff to change batteries though. Good test Kosh! 🙂

@@MVDBR ooh, that could be good, if you do, let us know if it works and if it is worth the cost. Currently I am still loving the endurance batteries, only used 2 yesterday on a 9 hour ride... wasn't recording for the whole ride mind, but can cope with one battery swap a day... especially as I use the mic adaptor rather than media mod, so swapping a battery takes seconds pretty much.
