Grinkov and Gordeeva were a one of a kind. Best of the very best. The mold was broken after those two. Exquisite beauty. Really the best there has ever been. They are unbeatable IMHO. Loved them and miss them. They were pure magic on ice. A once in a lifetime couple. Two hearts that truly beat as one. Extremely rare and unique. Poetry in motion and so much more. A tragic loss for the whole world and their precious daughter Daria. ❤️ ❤️ 💜

Thank you for this video! When I saw Scott and Tessa skate both their original and free programs at the Vancouver Olympics I immediately connected this program with G&G's sp from Lillehammer 94 and thought that I was crazy, but then seeing their free dance reminded me so much of G&G professional program "The Man I love" (which had almost the same style white dress on Tessa as Katia and an understated white shirt and black pants on Scott like Sergei wore for that program.) The ending pose of V&M free dance program almost mirrors the ending position of the program that Sergei and Katia never got to perform before he died, but per Katia's book "My Sergei" were in the ending stages of creating the program where G&G are both supporting themselves in a side horizontal position on the ice with their left hands on the ice and their right hands and faces reaching/looking to the sky. In both of these 2010 programs for V&M, I saw similar steps, foot work, arm positions or gestures that were from old G&G programs. But then again, it would make sense as Marina Zueva choreographed these programs while coaching them alongside Igor Shpilband. It's as if it had taken Marina 15 years to get past Sergei's death to tap into her romantic choreography again and make you believe that these two were a couple. G&G will always be the best pair team ever ... no other pair has come close to what they were almost 27 years later. I miss them together so much! It's so unfortunate that the current judging system has completely killed the sport for pairs. :(

Tessa and Scott are a game of passion and emptiness later (they never became a couple in life), and Katya and Sergey are tenderness, love and eternity ... I love them dearly!

Sorry but there is no comparison, although Tessa and Scott are ice dancers and G&G are pairs skaters, they don't come anywhere near G&G. Its really sad that pairs skating has lost its art. If you don't mind, could you maybe explain in a video or in the comments why pairs skating has changed so much and how the rules requirements in a program have impacted pairs? When watching the recent pair event at the Olympics, I was quite saddened that we didnt see pairs skating like what we saw in the 80s and 90s. Not just from G&G but from a lot of other teams who were fabulous. Now although the pairs do amazing tricks which they have to be credited for, and although they are extremely athletic, there's almost no art. The only top team who really took my breath away were of course the Chinese pair of Wenjing sui and Song han. To me they are the G&G of this generation of pairs since they stand out artistically among their competitors but even they unfortunately cannot compare to G&G ( but i hate to compare them since they are so different and sui and han bring their own magic to the ice ) For everyone else I was quite disappointed, the only other program that stuck out to me was the sp of the Russians, Tarasova and morozov, but their free was a huge snooze fest and so lukewarm. I just don't understand why pairs skating has artistically downgraded, while ice dance seems to be at its highest level ever. I mean just look at Papidakis and cizeron. Sandra Bezic was saying in her video with TSL that the rules put in place have helped ice dance become more artistic, but have ruined pairs skating. Do you know what she means?

I completely agree that no one compares to G&G, they don't even come close. And yes, Sandra is a 100% right! IJS has basically ruined pair skating. I will make a video and explain that.

@@HausdorffLover Thank you very much! I look forward to watching it. And can I just add that G&G short program from 94 is perhaps the best pairs sp ever?? don't get me wrong I love their Free skate but I feel like their sp isn't talked about enough. Marina zueva did her best work with G&G. I also think their reverie is their best exhibition program but maybe thats just my personal preference. I don't mean to be rude to marina but I think she also choreographed programs for Tarasova and Morozov before they switched to eteri and yikes....... those were bad. I guess she only really worked well with G&G. What do you think? and one more thing, who are your favourite pairs skaters? can be more than one, and besides G&G cause we already know they are everyone's favorites :)

@@toxic-low-key-ghost7934 Well I agree with your every single word! Marina is my favorite pairs choreographer, she really keeps the Russian ballet style in her works. My fav sp program is G&G's 94 sp and Berezhnaya & Sikharulidze's Lady Caliph! They're also my fav pair after G&G. I also really like Bechke & Petrov in their pro era. Reverie is my favorite routine ever! Katia and Michael Seibert worked together once again; he choregraphed her Morning Mood routine which is one of my fav Katia's routines after she became a single skater.

@@HausdorffLover yes! What I meant to say about marinas choreography was that it wasn’t the choreography that was bad, I hunk it just didn’t suit a team like Tarasova and morozov. However her work is truly amazing. I’ll have to watch some videos of bechke and petrov because I’ve never really watched them. I think besides the Russians, China has had some very good pairs starting with xue zhen and hongbo zhao all the way till now with sui and Han. But now I’m just getting sidetracked haha I could talk about pairs skating for hours. However G&G will forever be in a class of their own. I have to admit before I knew much about pairs skating ( I originally only watched ice dance ) when I first saw G&G I didn’t understand what made them so much better than the rest, but now understanding pairs seeing the state of current pairs skating, I understand why. Sergei was so underrated in that pair as well, Katia talked about how she wouldn’t be where she is ( career wise ) if it wasn’t for Sergei and that he was the glue of the pair. Katia is a wonderful skater on her own and brings lots to the pair but I wish people ( before Sergei died ) would acknowledge him more; everyone only talked about her and made it seem like she was the whole pair, but I guess he was just so good at presenting her that you only watched her.

@@toxic-low-key-ghost7934 I think the same. Sergei is the best male partner I could imagine, both technically and as a performer. I will make a video and describe it. Katia as well, she is the best female partner. But besides being the best individually, there was something so much more than that, a vibe? Idk the right word to say it.
