That there was only one bridge between Windsor and Detroit was always a source of curiosity to me. Many major cities in America have multiple bridges. This project is long overdue. Send this company and men off to replace that bridge destroyed on the east coast. Now, let's use a little forethought and build a tunnel under the Straits of Mackinaw that will carry heavy trucks and cars, get the weight off the bridge and have a practical redundancy. More than match the Enbridge money with bonds, dig big or go home. And do it fast!! All this dithering is useless.

The Taj Mahal of bridges. How many thousands of gallons of diesel were expended during all the construction? Lots of arable land was covered with concrete.

Lol.... more like a very typical and efficient bridge type for the long span it needs to cross the shipping channel. And if you wanna talk about diesel usage, how about the millions of gallons wasted annually by trucks stuck in congestion as they wait to cross the privately owned Ambassador Bridge? Which is narrow and way over capacity? You need to grow up if you can't handle a modern infrastructure project like this, any other developed nation would have built this bridge decades ago. It's been long overdue.

@@cobaltblue42 SIX BILLION dollars. Politicians always produce ways to spend other people's money.

@@heretoforeunknown $6 Billion is pretty typical for a project and structure of this size and scope, especially between two nations where border crossing infrustructure is required. And the cost is shared between the two countries so each side is paying a lot less than they would have to if it was just located in one country or the other. And public infrastructure like this benefits the public and economy, period. If you can't handle paying taxes to provide public services that benefit both yourself and others, then feel free to move to one of the tax havens of the world where you can be as selfish a prick with your money as you want.
