President Gordon B Hinckley, his final testimony and last address given in the British Isles, (Preston, England). He passed away Sunday 27th Jan 2008. It seems as he becomes very emotional that he knew he'd never be able to return to these shores again, hear his final words fom this address given 25th May 2005.

I have been inactive for well over 2 years. I finally started back to church because of the faith of my husband who is a convert. He never stopped attending, he patiently waited for me to get it together. After 3 weeks of attendance- I felt the spirit rest upon my soul. Thankfully! i LOVE President Hinkley with all my heart. he was a Prophet called for our days.

He was a grandfather to me... Like someone else mentioned. Our faith is one huge extended family and I certainly felt that way growing up listening to him. I broke down an cried when he died and still choke up as its so hard having to wait to hear such a wonderful man again... You just know he's a prophet of the lord with how he is. I miss him. God be with you til we meet again.

Being a member of the LDS church is being a member of the world's biggest extended family. President Hinckley was the prophet of God leading a 14 million + membered church and look how humble he is. He was like everyone's grandpa. It gave me goosebumps to watch this video.

I am infinitely more impressed with a man who can stand at a pulpit and say "I love you" than I am with a man who can stand at a pulpit and only present what he believes to be innovative ideas. While I appreciate the blessings of such innovative thinking, I hope to never under-appreciate the profound power of God's pure love. I am grateful for President Hinckley's witness of that love, which witness came to him and through him by a process unknown to many. Thank you for this.

How I loved this man. I was inactive when he died and his very spirit emanated from his funeral (on TV no less) and put my wife and I in tears. We came back and never left.....we're now temple workers at the St George Temple. God is Great!

I don't necessarily agree with the Mormon story but I believe that this man was a very good man. That he loved his fellow man and that he contributed to this world way beyond what I understand. Bless you Gordon Hinckley and thank you for the love that you shared on this planet.

When I was 12 years old I was in the Salt Lake Temple doing baptisms for the dead. As we were wrapping up things four security guards surrounded as and asked us to stay where we were. They said "You cannot leave this room the First Presidency is passing through. I met Gordon B Hinckley and Thomas S Monson in that hallway. it was a wonderful experience.

He spoke in a stake conference televised in So Cal about a week before he passed away. There are prophets, good, obedient, and righteous men. And then there are prophets who are giants amongst even themselves. The world will forever be blessed because of President Hinckley's insistence that temples dot the world.

I don't even hardly remember him, I was so little. but I remember him making me laugh. and now he's making me cry. because I miss him, someone I barely knew anything about is making me cry. because like God, Hinkleys love for everyone was unconditional. and a fraction of his testimony far outweighs anything that I have... he was one of the nicest men I knew... ..and they hate us, for what? our kindness...? .....why do people hate us... I don't get it...

I would never disrespect another person's faith and would hope others can at least show the same respect to us here, no matter whatever our faith might be. For the record, Mormons beleive in Christ, as our Lord and Savior! Those who show unkindly disrespect, I will block from posting here. Be nice :-)

“Joseph Smith would put the seer stone into a hat, and put his face in the hat, drawing it closely around his face to exclude the light; and in the darkness the spiritual light would shine. A piece of something resembling parchment would appear, and on that appeared the writing. One character at a time would appear, and under it was the interpretation in English. Brother Joseph would read off the English to Oliver Cowdery, who was his principal scribe, and when it was written down and repeated to Brother Joseph to see if it was correct, then it would disappear, and another character with the interpretation would appear. Thus the Book of Mormon was translated by the gift and power of God, and not by any power of man.” (David Whitmer, An Address to All Believers in Christ, Richmond, Mo.: n.p., 1887, p. 12.)
