Thanks for sharing, envious to go back to gordo now. Fair bit of sliding down that steep section. I was always taught down a steep hill, low range 1st gear, don't touch the brake, let the engine maintain the speed, if you do somehow lose grip, fight the urge to brake and give the throttle a squirt instead. But with a low 1st crawl you very rarely slide, at least I never have.

Great place isn't it! I'm a bit naff with 4wd'ing that's too difficult, plus my truck is a bit top heavy (that's my excuse anyway) lol. Though my truck has centre lock , DAC, Low range etc I don't go on too difficult stuff. Im a bit precious about Maggie. Lol

It's like that. It's the uphill that scares the poop out of me. Twice I've slid backwards on an uphill, I get nervous every single time now lol.

@@4WheelsOnTheRoad I bought a Patrol 11 years old and all it has is LSD. People told me Nissan's LSD is as good as a locker almost but depending where I go as a novice I might consider a locker at the front. I was keen on an autolocker but I think it is a bit of a risk in case they don't disengage and I need to turn,

what about auto? Even in 1 it is quite fast down hill!

@@mikeykeyes yeah I have a friend with a Nissan patrol auto and even in low range 1st it was fast as down hill. But other auto drivers have told me they don’t experience that and that low 1 still holds them to a crawl. So I’m not 100% sure how autos handle or if they vary from brand to brand.
