I had to stop listening to his music after my divorce. I learned he died in a text message from my estranged daughter, who I hadn't heard from in 11 years. She said she heard he died and she broke down crying. She remembered me singing his songs when she went to work with me. We are due to meet up to get reacquainted this Summer.

The late 60's and early 70's, listening to CFOB out of northwest Ontario. Driving through blizzards, thunderstorms and brutal summer heat. Like the poem "Footprints in the Sand" you realize that Gord was there with you singing the songs of your youth.

I bought a Gord’s Gold cassette in the early 80’s and listened to it every night while working in the oil fields of Texas! It always gave me joy and inspiration when listening to the depth and beauty of Gordon Lightfoot’s musical genius in this collection! RIP to the finest Canadian troubadour that ever lived!

There is so much loss in the world every day that sometimes one becomes inured to it. But Gordon Lightfoot's passing has made me weep. For the starkness of The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald bring up memories of those of us from coastal towns standing around in fear as the gales of November came early. To "If I Could Read Your Mind," helping me break up with a fiance. And the concert where my Uncle Mike and I shared a magnificent evening sharing our love of this amazing singer-songwriter and person. Rest in Peace, Gordon Lightfoot. May your memory be eternal.

Missing the man and his music. I learned to play listening to Gord and John Denver. Left the navy in 74. Ended up on the street in San Francisco in 75. Played Gords songs there for change. I have everything he ever did. I have copied every piece of sheet music and have every recording saved. Thanks Gord. Through everything Ive been through in my life, you were there with a song for it. Amen. God keep you.

It was spring 1973, Vancouver, my first big concert, GL came out on stag, sat on a stool, and played 2 1/2 hrs straight . We were a school tour, and I asked principle Hawks: is a normal performance[ I was 12], Mr. Hawks said: this IS GLhe is the very best! 51 years has not dulled that emotional statement, for I didn’t see his tears, through my own. It’s difficult to type, tears of joy, not sorrow,( Susan said it best)! Cam

Such a sad moment when I heard of Gordon's passing. I was a teenage lad when I came across him. My late parents played his songs on a regular basis. As I grew older I began to appreciate what a very clever musician Gordon was. Rip dear friend. You will always be remembered.
