I once met Gordon in Switzerland, sitting in a restaurant, back when I used to work as waitress alongside university. I tried to behave as usual so I wouldn't make him feel weird or bother him so I didn't ask him for a picture or anything but after he was finished I just had to tell him how much of a huge fan I am of him and his work. We had a short conversation and I asked him if I could take a picture with him which he immediately accepted. He's truly one of a kind. :)

Even if you're exceptionally good at your job it'll never fully be appreciated since they can pay someone half as good the same wage and it doesn't really make any difference. If it wasn't like this and customer service people got paid a fair wage for harder work then everyone would be a lot nicer and managers would 100% scout talent and try to get them to work for them. I honestly don’t think he’s rude. He’s passionate about food and the art of it. Along with service and standards to respect the food and the people eating it. As someone who works in the fine dining restaurant business, I understand how he is while in the kitchen, and during service.. which is mainly the only times I’ve seen him a bit more aggressive or assertive about things. He’s not much unlike other head chefs during service hours, especially when things get in the weeds.

Studying Gordon through his shows and his public encounters and casual encounters and interviews, I’ve come to the conclusion that Gordon is actually a really friendly, wholesome, and well-rounded individual. All the anger we see in tv is because the chefs he’s yelling at claim to have heightened culinary skills and he may have even mentored them as well. But that’s still not why he yells and cussed at them, he gets most angry when they’re meant to be feeding unsuspecting guests. He gets personally offended when he discovers something on his watch was in route or made it to some innocent person simply looking to enjoy a top notch meal.
