For everyone telling this is basically French toast, well it is. But as Gordon said, it's also known and Pain Perdue (lost bread). Just think about it, the French wouldn't call anything they normally cook "French-something". One of the earliest versions offrench toast has been traced back to the Roman Empire. The name “french toast" was first used in 17th-century England. The recipe - and name - were brought to America by early settlers. In France, the dish is called “pain perdu," meaning “lost bread."

I finally made this today and ITS DELICIOUS! i consider myself as a beginner in cooking and i had no issues while preparing this toast. its not that time-consuming either, you can always make the apple part earlier and keep it in the fridge, so next day you’ll only have to make the toast and add the already made apples. one more note is that this meal is VEERY SWEET. so unless you dont have super sweet tooth, or don’t want to gain 3kgs after eating this, i’d say you can add very little sugar to the bread or dont add it at all, since the apple glaze is already very sweet. i recommend this recipe to everyone🤎🐿 (note): heat up the suger on a very low heat, otherwise it will either burn or turn into a hard candy (happened to me so i turn the heat down and it took some time for the sugar to melt again)

Glad I found this I had plans to do something similar but different with our Christmas cinnamon rolls. We get ready baked ones but I loathe the frosting it's too sweet and too rich this gives me better direction of where to start with the apple topping than "Idk apples, a bit of honey some cinnamon and ginger and generous clove" with a dash of vanilla or vanilla liquor cause Vanilla is my favorite and gives the illusion of a creaminess without any sugar or cream for me I'm not big on the sweet myself as oposed to the spice seeing as I used to... eat whole ass cinnamon sticks when my stepmom's folks made cider, but I had no idea quite how i wanted to cook them and if there are two people I will always take cooking instruction/advice from it's Gordon Ramsay and Jun from Jun's kitchen.

I just did these. Wow!! Got so many compliments! Even from myself! I didn’t have apples, so I used a pear and a banana. It’s was good I’m now sad it’s over.

‘Pain Perdu’ actually translates as ‘forgotten loaf’. ‘Lost loaf’ doesn’t make much sense, Gordon. Wonder how you’d react if I said that to your face ...
@titoine12123 жыл бұрын
"Perdu" deffo is "lost" my dude. "Oublié" : forgotten. Also, "lost" does make sense as in "unusable" (to me at least)
@jonathansmith73523 жыл бұрын
@@titoine1212 Agreed, but how often do you lose a loaf of bread in your own home? Languages don’t translate word for word. If only they did, then we’d all speak more of them, understand each other and not fall out so much. We have along history of misinterpreting our French and German neighbours - usually through our own linguistic ignorance from living on an island.
@titoine12123 жыл бұрын
@@jonathansmith7352 "Lost" here is not meant this way however. It is more akin to that in "lost cause" or "lost combat" etc.
