GORGEOUS, HISTORIC & GOLDEN Westinghouse Selectomatic Elevators at The Gulf Tower in Pittsburgh, PA

Aside from the elevators at the Cathedral of Learning, these elevators are WITHOUT A DOUBT the most FAMOUS & Overfilmed in Pittsburgh! And not only that, but out of all of the High Rise Elevators I filmed when I was here (this also happens to be the tallest building I made it into when I was here, security is very strict in most of the Skyscrapers here...), these ones were definitely my favorites! ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS Westinghouse Elevators with Original Engraved Doors, Brass GOLDEN looking ORIGINAL cabs, BEAUTIFUL Bicycle/Cash Register Bells that are absolute MUSIC to my EARS, and BEAUTIFUL PRISTINE ORIGINAL Brass Type A/AE Fixtures, in a HISTORIC & BEAUTIFUL HIGH RISE Building!!!
Now, for as Gorgeous and as Amazing & Cool these elevators may be on paper, these elevators were technically modernized for a second time after the Selectomatic mod (this building was built in 1932 and these would've been Manually Controlled originally), around 2004-2005 ish, Marshall/Thyssenkrupp came in and replaced the Car Indicators as well as the Controllers, HOWEVER, despite the fact that these were technically modded a second time, the Fixtures, the Cabs, the Lobby Panels, Doors, Lanterns, Bells and Motors all remain original from the Vintage Westinghouse Selectomatic Modernization & were likely restored as they're LITERALLY in Like-New PRISTINE Condition, and for that, I can't complain ONE BIT!!! These elevators are ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS & HISTORIC in EVERY WAY IMAGINABLE, THIS is the RIGHT WAY to modernize a Vintage Elevator System (although I do wish the original Westy controllers were still intact of course lol)!
In addition to that, these elevators are also pretty slow for the amount of floors this building is, but considering how RARE & PRACTICALLY NON EXISTENT HIGH RISE Westinghouse AE's are, ESPECIALLY ones THIS gorgeous and historic looking, all I'm gonna say to that is WHO CARES!?!?
These elevators also travel smoother than many modern elevators do too, so I can't complain one bit about the speed in that regard either.
I ABSOLUTELY LOVED these elevators a LOT and I'm so happy I FINALLY made it here!
This building CLEARLY is very proud of its elevators and history as not only are the fixtures Vintage, but so are the Cabs and doors! I almost wonder if the doors in the cars are original and there were never Gated as they do have handles inside, but I'm not 100% sure.
This video features both the High Rise & Mid Rise Elevators here, and there are rumors that this building could be renovated/converted into Apartments in the not too distant future. It's unknown for certain if this will happen yet, but if it does, I fear that these elevators will get modded for the third time and that the next modernization won't be anywhere NEAR as Tasteful as the previous two were.
Regardless of what happens though, I'm definitely glad I got here when I did, and for those of you who REALLY want to ride, I'd advise that you come here while you can!
These elevators and this building as a whole are absolutely AMAZING & impeccable, and you'll definitely be sorry if you miss out.

Modernized:
1st Modernization: Circa Late 1960s or Early 1970s. (Westinghouse Selectomatic Mark IV with Type A/AE Fixtures, New Motors, New Controllers and New Lanterns. Cabs and Doors left as is.)
2nd Modernization: 2004-2005ish (Marshall/TK with New Controllers and New Car Indicators. Everything else left untouched from previous modernization)

Amazing elevators ngl, I really love these elevators. If they do a 3rd mod, hopefully it’s gonna be tasteful as the last 2. This mod is an example on how to do a mod though.
