He loved Mahmoud Ahmed songs and everytime I listen to Mahmoud Ahmed's song I am transported to the time when I was like 10 years old and sitting in my father's 1960s Volkswagen with my father listening to these songs and reminising about his youth and sharing his wonderful memories with me and my sister.

ይህ ጊዜ የማይሽረው የአበሻ ሕዝብ ሁሉ የታሪክና የሥነጥበብ ሀብት ነው። ሥነጥበብ (አርት) በሚፈጥረው ልዩ አስደማሚ ስሜት፣ ከውበቱ በስቲያ ለሕዝብ የሚገልጸው ልዩ እውነት አለ፤ ይህን ዜማ ስትሰማ ልብህ ከአበሻ ሕዝቦች ልብ ጋር አብሮ የሚደመመው ያለ ምክንያት አይደለም--እንደወንድሞችህ ደምህ የተቀዳው ከአንድና ከማይለይ ታላቅ ወንዝ እንደሆነ ምስክር ነው። በሰሜን በደቡብ በምስራቅ በምዕራብ ያለን የዚህ ሀብት ባለቤቶች፣ በዘር፣ በሃይማኖ፣ በቦታ እና ሰው በዘፈቀደ በፈጠረው በስም እና እንዲሁ በፈለሰፈው በአሳብ ሳንለያይ፣ በዚህ ዘመን አንድ ላይ ሆነን በፍቅር፣ በትብብር፣ በቅንነት እንደገና አንድነታችንን ውበታችንንና ታላቅነታችንን ለራሳችንም ለዓለምም ሁሉ እናሳይ። ስም፣ ቅርጽ፣ ሥርዓት ወዘተ ሁሉ ተለዋዋጭ ነው፤ ነገር ግን ክተለዋዋጩ ቅርጽና ስም ጀርባ ያለው፣ ከቃልና ከስም በስቲያ የሆነው፣ ጥልቅ የሆነው ፣ የማይለዋወጠው፣ መሠረታዊና እውነተኛ የሆነው፣ ውስጣችንም እውነተኛነቱን የሚመሰክርልን፣ ያ መሥራች "ንጥረ ነገር"፣ ያ ዋና "ይዘት" (ኮንቴንት) --ያ እንደሕዝቦች ያቆመን ማንነታችን፣ መንፈሳችን፣ የሕዋሳቶቻችንና የልቦናችን የጋራ ጣዕማችን፣ የጋራ ዝንባሌአችን፣ መሻታችንና አቋማችን፣ በጋራ ያዘመምንበት አቅጣጫችን፣ እርሱ የማይናጥ፥ የማይለዋወጥ፥ የማይሰባበርና ዘላቂ የሆነ ስለሆነ፣ እነሆ ጅረትና ሸንተረር ሁሉ ለጊዘው በተለያየ ቅርጽ ቢታይም ወደ ዋናው ወንዙ እንደሚሰባሰብና እንደሚከማች፣ ሲከማችም ልዩነት እንደሌለው ሁሉ፣ እኛም ይህን አንድ ሚያደርገንን መንፈስ ይዘን ከየጅረቶቻችን እየፈሰስን እንሰባሰብ፣ እንከማች! አንድነት ኃይል ነው!
