So very true @GraceloveAnimals! I knew Mandazzi's departure would change the dynamics of this group, but I didn't know exactly how. When they were young (9-10 years old) Maka was actually the dominant in the group, but then Mandazzi took the lead as alpha, and Maka was completely fine with that. Maka though being the oldest is/has always been highly respected by his brothers. When he makes a gesture, or decision even Mandazzi would comply. That is not likely to change, period. I do believe that Denny has the potential to be an alpha, but maybe not in this group setting. We shall see what happens when Denny gets older and hormonal 😂. 12:22 Ekuba seems to be sitting, and waiting for Mandazzi to return 😢. He is taking Mandazzi's absence the hardest bless his 💙 heart. 12:45 Maka's presence and demeanor alone has always kept order in this troop even though Mandazzi was the alpha. 13:07 😂 Denny stop throwing dirt. 18:43 Denny being the juvenile of the group, and Maka has a lot of patience with his little brother, and is dedicated to protecting him. Yes this group has a sort of unusual dynamic. Even though Mandazzi was the alpha Maka seemed to highly influence the group with his presence, a sort of "quiet dominance" if you will. When Maka made a decision everyone listened.

Maka may be short in stature, but he certainly makes his presence known, and brings order to the group.

@@PrimateLady Trib is Paul Donn's father. Memba is Maka, Mandazzi and Ekuba's father. Paul Donn is Denny's father. Paul Donn is also Frank's father even though Frank joined Winston's troop. I sure wish I could get a peek at Frank and Monroe. I miss them dearly.

Maka can read Denny like a book. He is the perfect father figure for Denny. At one point, Denny tried to get Ekuba to play tag. But Ekuba was too busy showing everyone there is a new boss up in here!

I feel so sad for them, but happy for Mandazzi... He is one of the lucky ones. There are so many silvers that will never have the chance to have mates. Zoo that have more than two females per group need to share with other zoo's.

Maka does seem to know when Denny is about to toss dirt. 😂 he will kinda keep a distance from Denny. He watches over Denny but then knows when to get out of the way… Maka is so wise!

I noticed that San Diego Zoo hasn’t made an official announcement about Mandazzi leaving and then also Sedgwick Zoo hasn’t made an official announcement about getting Mandazzi. I’m wondering if they’re waiting until he’s out of quarantine. I feel like visitors to San Diego zoo must be wondering where he is when they visit the zoo. The Zoo Volunteers are telling people he’s gone so I guess people are finding out that way. But it would be nice to see more information or updates on Mandazzi.

There was a wildlife care specialist there when I was there and she said Ekuba was the new Alpha. I do think Ekuba has matured a lot and doesn’t react to Denny like he used too! I think Ekuba has matured and mellowed…

I think they look like they are adjusting well. I’ve seen in the past Ekuba challenging Mandazzi… so I feel like Ekuba wanted to be Alpha. So I think Ekuba and the other boys miss him but I also think Ekuba wanted to be Alpha and is ready to be Alpha. In the wild it would be normal for a silverback to eventually leave a bachelor troop and start a family troop away from the bachelor troop so I think this is somewhat normal for them. Plus I think Ekuba wants to be alpha and is ready to be alpha. I think they look like they are adjusting well. Ekuba I thought he looked more comfortable last time I was there. It would be nice if Sedgwick Zoo would make an announcement that he’s there and how he’s doing. But I’m thinking they must be waiting for his quarantine to be over first.
