Gorilla Fight | Silverback Haoko attacks female Momoko 🦍💢 Angry son Riki saved mama

Silverback gorilla Haoko looked frustrated and was moving around.
Maybe it was because he kept looking at females Momoko and Toto, but they didn't allow him to come closer.
When Haoko was coming close to Momoko, her children gathered by Momoko. Did they come because they were wary of Haoko and would guard mama?
Haoko gave up and went to the room once, but he soon came back and drove the other gorillas away.
Momoko ran away again, but Haoko attacked her.
Soon after, 5 y/o Riki jumped and came to save his mother right away.
Momoko and her children got angry.
They screamed and chased Haoko around.
Gorillas usually take the side of the weaker one and get angry at the stronger one when a fight breaks out.
Haoko has looked so frustrated there has been a rising tension between him and his troop gorillas these days.

Haoko has looked so frustrated there has been a rising tension between him and his troop gorillas these days. 2023年9月　上野動物園 シルバーバックのハオコが最近イライラしているように見えます。 メスのモモコやトトにアピールするも、スルーされたり避けられていたのが原因の一つかもしれません。 ハオコがモモコに近づくと、子どもたちがモモコの前に集まってきました。荒ぶるハオコを警戒してモモコを心配してきたのでしょうか。 ハオコはいったん諦め、部屋に入りましたが、また外に出てきて子どもたちを追い払いました。 モモコは離れましたが、ハオコがモモコのところに走って腕に噛みついて攻撃しました。 すると５歳の息子リキがジャンプしてすぐに駆けつけ、モモコを助けました。 姉たちもハオコに怒り、ハオコを追いかけまわしていました。 特にモモコは自分が噛まれたこともあり、一番怒って長時間ハオコを追いかけまわしていました。 ゴリラの喧嘩の際は、他のゴリラたちはたいてい弱い方の味方をして強い方に怒って追いかけることがよくあります。

Haoko is a disgusting silver back with a horrible temperament. I never thought I could dislike an animal but he is horrible. He just bully’s all the females & attacks for no reason & still mating with Toto & Momoko, when these female gorillas are elderly it’s disgusting the zoo does not move him out of this area. The whole family is scared of him. He even attacked the baby girl knocking her over & taking food from her in another video. He’s a vile silverback. He’s going to cause so many problems with his son.

I know that all the family members usually chase the silverback when they attack a family member but Riki is something else. He has been actually hitting and pushing Haoko. I haven’t really seen that happen. Riki is my favorite of the little boy gorillas I watch and somehow I love him even more now. He truly defended Momoko. ❤ Momoko’s kids are treasures.

At a guess I think its because his wife is on meds and not in heat , but Haoko still has is he may be thinking of his son as the reason he isnt getting his wife time , which again is incredibly dangerous to any black back he sees as any kinda rival. @@justbreathe_

Riki at 5 years old didn't think twice about helping his mother! ❤ He was very brave to hit out at his father and not just chase him.❤ Riki has definitely grew up alot quicker for his age. I think it has alot to do with when Momoko was pregnant with Sumomo and then her having to leave for sometime as she was poorly, so Riki grew up quicker in that time. I hope Haoko's behaviour settles down. Haoko definitely seems agitated lately. I hope the zoo keep an eye on the situation.

Riki is amazing isnt he. His natural instinct to protect his mother kicked in very quickly and also the same happened with Gentaro when his father got sick, he grew up instantly, like Riki has now too. Haoko needs a couple of younger wives , perhaps 3 . Toto and Momoko are old and he bullies them.

@nella88 Yes, Momomentaro was a silverback by 10 years old. He grew up fast because he was on his own from 7 years old. He was separated from Momoko a little early. In the wild, it's usually 8 years and above they leave voluntarily or are pushed out from then. Momentaro maybe could have done with an extra year with his mom, especially because he had no father. A year is a big difference in the gorilla world.

Haoko is over 600 lbs.. he’s the largest silverback in Japan. Riki is very brave and all of Momoko kids are the sweetest. I love how fond of Toto that sumoto is..

I keep telling Haoko to give Momoko some time seeing she had a rough pregnancy, and thereafter before he approaches his lady wife like 😘😍🤪 but he likes to rush things along, and when it doesn't go as planned he gets all 🤯 frazzled and frustrated. It seems lady Toto has also been wanting some alone time lately, as she is usually by Haoko's side. Bless his heart. He gets himself so worked up.

Riki is such a good son and loving brother. He didn't hesitate to jump in to help his momma at all. Instantly there punching and jumping at his father. What a brave little guy. What is going on with Haoko though? Why is he so aggravated lately? Poor baby Sumomo has barely left Auntie Toto's side or Momma Momomko since the last fight Haoko started. She still seems so scared to be away from either of them and now this attack on Momoko. I hope everything calms down for a while.

Haoko is smart enough to know how much that baby is loved by everyone. He would never attack Sumomo. Maybe Toto is the smartest of all of them. Haoko won't attack her while the baby is on her back! Well.... that's how I see it.

Haoko is mad because Momoko and Toto won't mate with him. Maybe he needs another younger female, but who knows how that dynamic would work with the family very well established. The kids may attack the new female and also she may not want to mate with haoko either who acts like an overgrown child when he doesn't get his way.😮

Haoko mates too much, 13 years, 5 babies is simply too much IMO. In comparison, Haoko's mother had 5 babies in 19 years. He is even mating with his daughter, not to mention he is prone to displays of anger too, this is not a chasing game like Shabani does, biting is actually a sign of aggresion in adult gorillas, he is being dead serious.

I think Momoko is in estrus because she’s not breastfeeding Sumomo. This will trigger a very strong instinct in Haoko. They need to give her birth control ASAP so he can go back to mating ‘for fun’ with Toto.

Momoko is a very strong willed gorilla lady. She hated Genki to the point that Genki had to be moved out of the group. Momoko tolerates Toto, I think in part because Toto has had no babies of her own (babies raise the mother's social status in great ape families). I just don't know that Momoko would accept any other females in the group at this point...she is the queen bee. I do think they need to get Komomo and Momoka out of there and get them with some quality silverbacks. Moving the girls out may cut the tension a little.

I was crying when I seen Riki jumping to protect his mom and it looked as if he actually pushed Haoko his dad off his mom. I love both brothers Shabani and Haoko, but they are like night and day in personality. I'd like to know what Haoko was thinking. Shabani wears his heart on his sleeve, you can usually tell with him. Aww, Riki, bless his heart💕

Since I started watching this channel, I have been so impressed by Riki. He’s a very loving gorilla. The way he has designated himself as Sumomo’s brother caretaker with such a gentle demeanor has really been amazing. I thought just the other day how Riki will be a wonderful silverback if he gets to have his own troop. I feel for everyone in this situation. Haoko is at the prime of his life. Nature provided silverbacks a mission…to procreate and to protect the troop. It’s just the way it is right now. Hopefully no one gets severely injured in a fight. Genki’s mother was so badly beaten by her silverback, she was euthanized due to her injuries. 😢

Hate to say this but I hope Momoko or Toto can give Haoko some loving. He’s not going to stop doing this and I fear for tiny Sumomo most of all. She already got kicked hard accidentally during one of these angry chases. It looked like Momoko ‘offered’ herself the other day to protect Riki (she turned her back into the mating position and backed towards him) but he seemed too wound up to take advantage. It was remarkable to see Momoko do that.

I don’t understand why their enclosure is so dang small. I’m not a huge “zoos are evil” person, but they should definitely have more space so they aren’t always being forced into close proximity.

Thank you for your comment and concern. There is another enclosure which has more space and is connected to indoor. In summer, because it is extremely hot and danger for the gorillas, they are at the small field so that they can go back cool inside. This was taken in summer, and now they live in the larger-space enclosure.

Haoko seems like a bully. He's probably sexually frustrated and wants to mate with Momoko but all the kids are always around so he can never get to mama gorilla to mate. It's not cool that he attacked attacked his wife like that. All her kids are very brave. I think it's time for a divorce!

Gee what could be wrong, we have an adult male and geriatic females who of course do not want sex, but you build a troop arround the mother not the father, because you do not move the grown daughters. All the fools saying how brave Riki is. He has been taught by this silly "troop" dynamic that everyone attacks dad. Richard in Prague failed to protect one young new wife of his that was introduced into his troop and she was bullied relentlessly to the point that when she gave birth to her only child she was afraid to pick him up bc the other long standing wives wouldn't allow her to. He had to be raised by zookeepers and sadly she passed away from internal injuries some time later. Most likely from being attacked at some point and the zoo didn't pay enough attention to realize something was wrong until it was too late. She was actually a sister of Tayari and Iriki's. Her story always broke my heart and I have forever hated the Prague Zoo for failing to step in and protect her as well. Her life could have been different if she had been sent with her sisters to D'jeeco who is an amazing Silverback.

@@Sammy-kn2nb Bikira was Iriki and Tayari's sister? That amazes me. I will look it up too to find out how they are related. Thank you for telling me. Yes, I think the zoo should have recognized it wasn't working and returned her to Ireland. It is possible the zoo organization that makes all the decisions in breeding said no. We can't be sure the zoo didn't ask. She may have died of that virus - they had it before her death although how long I'm not sure, or it may have been an internal clotting issue from being beaten. Whatever it was, it is tragic. I watched faithfully until the zoo closed down the live cam and no one was regularly uploading videos. I try to remember How close Kibi and later Nuru were to her. Kibi especially was so kind and loving to her. She received a lot of comfort from that. I think Richard is a very insecure silverback, who relinquished control at times to Shinda. He ruled by his fists and unfairly a lot of the time too. He beat on Kamba too. And, instead of protecting Bikira he often would join in. So sad. Did you know that they gave the girls a new silverback and brought Moja's daughter, Duni from Spain to live with them? Shinda's son was neutered and he is living well with the new silverback, Kisumu. Kisumu seems a lot more fair in my view. I have been watching Lucie's channel and the zoo has a few of them meeting. Duni fits in really well and is super close to her grandmother Kijivu. They must know they are related. Maybe by smell. But, I hear you. I too shed many tears for Bikira. 💗 Adding that her son I think named Tano if I remember is apparently doing well. The zoo should have isolated her when she went into labour. Hindsight is 20/20 though.

He’s relentless. When Komomo was little an nursing she was little he was making his randy moves on her when she was not going to e in estrus for a long time. He’s a randy bugger an gets really aggressive when he doesn’t get what he wants an he’s a biter, but Momma has her posse an they are protecting her. Love this group love dynamics. He’s usually sweet when he’s not being a jerk

I don't believe for one second that Silverback intended on hurting Momoko. Silverbacks do not go on the attack like that when its serious they deliver very hard blows. He may have been mad, or something along those lines, but he certainly wasn't wanting to inflict pain, if he was serious you can bet there is no damn way he would have ran away. He would have held his ground, and would've attacked whoever approached. Not to mention, he would have had no problem hurting any of them if that was his goal, because it's the Silverbacks that do the fighting, not the females. I understand you give your videos catchy titles to get clicks, but it's not fair to mislead so many people, and have them thinking this was an actual attack, and definitely not fair to Haoko to have people believe this. Find better ways to generate clicks!

i think he sensed the matriarchical family power dynamic and didn't like it. I saw him asserting his dominance. I've never seen an army assemble the way all her kids did. It was a little intimidating...
