Thank you so much for this video. I have been searching everywhere for the information to many unanswered questions and you answered them all. Now I know what to pick for my gorilla trek in July 2025. Thank you

Dear Africa-Reps, Since we’re in September on the 24th later this month in the fall is world gorilla day (Where The people of East Africa’s Rwanda, DR Congo and Uganda celebrated the iconic mountain gorillas).

Excellent videos, thank you. What camera lens did you find most useful for the regular trek where the gorillas are closer and recommended lens for the habituation trek where you shared they are mostly on the move. Am thinking for the regular trek the 70-200mm may be appropriate but may not be enough lens for habituation. I understand the variables and appreciate any input you can offer.

I'm glad you found it helpful. Everything shot in this video was done using a mobile phone, however to get the best pictures it is best to take a proper camera with you. for the standard trek you will definitely be fine with 70-200mm lens. To be honest this should also be sufficient for the habituation trek. You are allowed to get as close as 7 meters from Gorillas in both treks. The main difference is in the habituation trek the Gorillas will move on. You will get to follow them a long their journey through the forest.

I have a question for you. at the end of the video you said if you had to do one the regular trek or the habituation, you said the regular one. Then you said if you planned on two then you would do one of each. Could you explain a little more? I am heading there in Feb for the regular Trek, but a thought about the 4hr trek. Great video by the way!

So sorry I missed this. If you are doing one trek I recommend the standard trek as most people want to experience getting a little closer to the Gorillas and getting great photos. The 4 hour trek follows a family of unhabituated Gorillas so they tend to move more so it is amazing for observing behaviour but not always so good for taking photos and getting that close up experience, although it does sometimes happen. Which trek did you do in the end? Was it amazing?

Glad I found this video, already did the 1 hour trek in 2021 , I’m going back in August with husband . We already booked the one hour trek but I think we need to go for the habituation too 😅
