Gorilla Momoka Protects Baby Sister Sumomo From Lightning | Gorilla Haoko Troop

Baby gorilla Sumomo was with her mother Momoko. When Momoko pooped, Sumomo approached Momoko's poop with interest, licking and eating it. It is not unusually for gorillas to eat poops to ingest undigested nutrients. A thunder rumbled and it made Sumomo scared🦍⚡ At that moment, her sister Momoka came to her. Sumomo went to Momoka and clung to her. Momoka hugged Sumomo protectively from lightning. Not only giving a hug, but Momoka also groomed her baby sister. Momoka is really a caring and kind sister 🦍🦍 赤ちゃんゴリラのスモモが母モモコの隣で雨宿りをしていました。 モモコがうんちをすると、スモモはうんちに近づいて観察し、舐めたり食べていました。ゴリラは未消化の栄養素を摂取するために食糞をすることがあるようです。 突然雷がゴロゴロ鳴り、スモモは驚いて怖がっていました🦍⚡ その時ちょうど次女モモカがやってきました。 スモモはモモカのもとへ行き、しがみつきました。 モモカはスモモを抱きしめ、安心させて雷から守っているようでした。 また、抱きしめるだけでなくモモカお得意の毛づくろいでスモモを癒していました。 モモカは面倒見がよく優しいお姉ちゃんゴリラですね🦍🦍

Sumomo eating Mama’s poo. She needs to drink her bottle! Easy to digest I guess for her. Or her body needs nutrients.

Gorilla babies also get beneficial gut bacteria from eating poo, which helps their immunity and digestion.

Yes it is actually normal...Adult gorillas will eat their own feces to digest any unprocessed food/nutrients but it's also a way for the younger ones to build up a healthy gut bacteria as well. Many animals do it....even younger elephants eat their momma's feces.

I bet sumomo had some great smelling poop breath. That’s just hard to watch. I know they are primates and they do this but still hard to watch. I love watching the gorillas though. Fascinating family group. I prefer watching this group over momotaro family group. They also have such a better place outside than momotaro group. Really great video except for the poop. Lol.
