And regarding your query - Both are amazing, we planned to visit Gornergrat to get a different experience, because we have already experienced snow covered mountains in Jungfraujoch and was planning to go to Titlis as well ,which also has some what similar experience.. also people says view of matterhorn is much better from distance (Gornergrat).. you can opt for any of these ..it will be amazing ..

You bought one way ticket to Gornergrat, then how come you came back in train to Zermatt?

Yeah initially we decided to hike down but then we were lil exhausted and it was very windy as well so we purchased tickets from the ticket office at the top (building in video at 4:33 mins is the ticket office) and came back by train.. There was no difference in ticket fare if you purchase two one way ticket or a return ticket.. also Ticket ofc is available in all intermediate stops.. So if you want you can hike for some part of journey and purchase train ticket for remaining part and cover it by train..

Hi, On this route we hiked only for a small portion of journey , which was not tough at all.. However with kids we will suggest to do downhill hike.. it will be less tiring & fun filled ..

How long it takes to reach riffelsee lake from rottenboden station by walk for you. As i have seen numerous photos about that lake with a reflection of matterhorn
