Royal turned Akechi from a tragic traitor, one I couldn’t forgive into my favorite Persona character, one who’s actions I understood as a desperate attempt to be free.

I see him more of a guy who after realising how wrong he was, he is willing to redeem himself by any mean posible, even being willing to accept Maruki fake reality if Joker's desire, even if that means to coming back at his fake nice guy celebrity mask that Akechi wears(I mean, he could be honest with Joker if he's alone but nothing more).

@@franconunez925 The Thieves never really stole Futaba's heart yet it did change. She just realised the truth she knew in her heart and to not let corrupted adults lies get to her any longer. Believing in her experience, knowledge, her love for her mother, and her own self. Akechi accepting who he is and not ignoring it or hiding it is a step forward in changing his own heart. It just comes down to whether he'll neglect to address it or work towards bettering himself as a person.

I agree, it feels like there's something very off about Akechi that's noticeable way more than Adachi's whole fake screw-up detective bit. Adachi, meanwhile, feels a little more grounded and realistic. Like, he has his whole "Hehehe the world will end and I will kill these teenagers" thing, but he doesn't go full-on hammy coo coo crazy like Akechi does.
