I shadowed and filmed a GORUCK "Heavy" event in San Francisco. It was a 24 hour course led by United States Special Forces to teach people how to overcome adversity as individuals and as teammates.

@ShaunJonesLA this is still the best GoRuck video out there. The music, the editing, it's dialed in. I watched this video like 5 years ago, and decided to train and do a GoRuck Heavy in Cleveland Ohio, in September 2019. When I got there at 10PM, it was snow-raining sideways up on Lake Erie. I showed up by myself and knew nobody. I remember being VERY nervous. They had us down on the beach, filling sandbags within minutes, doing calisthenics, and carrying each other around within minutes after 10PM. Your video captures exactly what one of these events feels like. It's one of the only times I watched a video, did the thing, and felt the exact feeling that the video portrayed. Great job.

That was a brutal event weekend. I did the tough and it was the same type of weather. Battle of fallujah event weekend.

When I want to show someone what gorlick is I send them this video. 99% people say “oh hell no”. But I showed it to a co-worker and she said “ok I want to do this”. You have to be a little crazy to want to do a tough or a heavy. But all it takes is the desire and the attitude of not quitting.

@@tonysardo1751 Usually if there were photographers, they were volunteers. Sometimes everyone for that event pooled in money to pay for a local photographer to be there. For this particular event, I volunteered my time to create a video for them just because I had a friend who took part in it.

Nomad I'm working up for one of these events by next summer I'm gona walk from my house out in the boonies to my brother in-laws 17 hour 49.6 miles in winter conditions with 40 lbs weight and gear if I survive that I'm doing a goruck light then the mother of all gorucks the heavy

I love this video. It was through doing KILL THE 5K CHALLENGE (my first goruck challenge) is where i met a Veteran that stuck to my side helped me pull my self together and kill that 5k. He introduced me to TEAM RWB. Now i ruck almost every other weekend.

Ana Thank you! It is tough but there are shorter courses you can do. This video I made was during a 24 hour (Heavy) event. Other options include a 10-12 hour (Tough) event and a 4-5 hour (Light) event. Those may be easier to start with.

Yeah it depends on location and cadre but every basic/light I have done they had us in the water or sand.

I just cut portions of the video out, which turns the empty spaces into black automatically. I used FCP X to do the editing.

+800lb Gorilla I'm not so sure. I've done plenty of physically exerting things, but rolling around in the sand and dunking my face in polluted bay water doesn't seem rewarding to me. if you're determined to fuck up your lower spine by walking around with a 50lb weight on your back, why not make it interesting? load up with camping gear, hike to SPT and spend a night in the redwoods.

Bucky Love if you have to ask that question, then you’re not the type of person that would 1: make it through this and 2: benefit from a challenge like this. This isn’t about the physical. It’s about stomping your negative thoughts and your “can’t do” attitude into the ground when the going gets tough. Sure, go run a few miles... go swim.. do some push-ups. Big fucking whoop. Dunk yourself in freezing water. Roll in some sand so you’re covered and uncomfortable/miserable. Push yourself physically. Rely on those around you to get you through the hard times and they rely on you on their low moments... THATS what this is about. This is about mental fortitude that translates to other aspects of life. If you can’t do the simple shit right, you will never do the big stuff right.
